A
fter the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, Ariana Coniglio told herself that she would run the marathon. âI will never forget that day as I was among the marathon crowd,â she said. âI will never forget the confusion, fear or panic; not knowing if my friends were okay; not knowing if thereâs another bomb about to go off and not knowing where was safe. Moreover, I will never forget the solidarity experienced in Boston, and the perseverance and even transcendence among those injured in the blasts, who have found strength and love in the ruins of that day. We saw as a nation what âBoston Strongâ truly meant.â She achieved that dream by running the marathon this Ariana Coniglio is shown with her husband, Chad Volbert, after running the Boston Marathon on Monday. Parking is a major issue in the city. Revere needs to be able to compensate itself fairly for these kinds of aggregations.â Selevitch suggested the fees be changed to $365 per space per year, which is basically a dollar a day for a space. He also wants it to be enforced on July 1. Commissioner Linda Guinasso agreed with Selevitchâs suggestions, saying these parking lots operate 24/7 and often disturb the residents they abut. âItâs a big inconvenience to our city,â she said. âA

dollar a day is quite cheap. We need to take some control and we need to start it.â However, Commissioner John LaCroix worried the price was too steep and that the parking lot owners should be involved in the discussion. âI donât think we did our homework here other than raising the price,â he said. Ward 2 Councillor Ira Novoselsky said he is worried about parking lots with 20 to 30 spaces used by people who donât work every day. âIâm just thinking of the little guy,â he said. However, Selevitch said the July 1st date gives plenty of notice for lot owners to get their funds ready for the new fee. âThereâs a lot that can be done in the city from the money that would be generated from this,â he said. âIf they werenât making money, they wouldnât be in business,â Guinasso added. The Commission voted in favor of Selevitchâs proposal. LaCroix voted present.
