SITT SELLS SEASIDE SITE TO CITY

New York had successfully negotiated a deal for the purchase of 6.9 acres (part of a 12 acre site) owned by Joseph Sitt's Thor Equities. The purchase, said the Mayor, "represents an investment in Coney Island's future," and gives the City control of land which "forms a core" of the future development of Coney Island.
"I am very proud to achieve this victory on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people - proud to prove that Jews can be tough!" he words of Yuri Forman, immediately after winning "the f ight of his life, on November 14, after Shabbat, in front of an enthusiastic audience at the Las Vegas' MGM Grand Hotel. Yuri Forman fulf illed a dream, becoming part of the historic tradition of Jewish pugilists in America. Following in the footwork of champions like Benny Leonard, Max Baer and Barney Ross who fought during the early years of the twentieth century, Foreman, an Orthodox Jew and rabbinical student, f ights wearing a Lion of Judah encased in a Star of David on his trunks.
