Meet the 2018 Lynnfield 10-year-old All-Star Baseball team who went 18-4 during summer baseball, participating in the District Tournament, Bay State Games and The Jimmy Fund Tournament. The boys placed third in Districts and second in Bay State Games. They were outstanding and this team definitely deserves some recognition. The manager was David Tracy and the coaches were Jack Dahlstedt and Bob Mandile. he School Committee recently voted unanimously to hire Roberta Keane as the district’s new director of Student Services. She will replace Kara Mauro, who held the post for seven years before being chosen as the new assistant superintendent of schools in Wakefield. Prior to the Aug. 14 vote, Superintendent of Schools Jane Tremblay said the process of finding a new director began on July 5 with a 10-member Search Committee. She said a total of 19 candidates applied for the position and five of them were interviewed. “Roberta just rose to the top immediately,” said Tremblay. She said Keane has worked for the Bedford, N.H., Public Schools for the past 15 years
Roberta Keane and has been the assistant director of Special Services since 2015. Keane said she also has extensive experience with matters relating to Title 9 and 504 Plans. She said that prior to making the move to New Hampshire, she spent 11 years with the Lexington Public Schools and gained experience working with the Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity.

ELROSE – Nearly 200 runners braved torrential downpours to participate in the Fourth Annual Mary O’Donnell 5K to continue raising money in the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Melrose resident Matthew
O’Donnell said he and his family started the race after his mother, Mary O’Donnell, was taken by the disease in November 2014 at the age of 51. She was married to William O’Donnell for 24 years and was the mother of five children. “It’s a great tribute to my
