Marzie Galazka, deputy director of the city’s Planning & Development Department, said the project will be funded, in part, by an $825,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). According to The Neighborhood Developers website, the complex, known as St. Therese – Healthy Homes for Seniors, will feature community and ďŹ tness rooms, a management office on the premises and a 6,800-square-foot medical facility operated by the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. “Aordable elderly housing is a strong priority for the mayor,â€? said Galazka, adding that she has conďŹ dence in The Neighborhood Developers.“They do really quality construction and really nice projects.â€? The complex is expected to be completed by 2021. In addition to new housing, Galazka said $130,000 will be used to fund local food pantries and afterschool programming as well as resources to combat youth and family homelessness.
