If there’s one thing we love the most about the holiday season besides seasonal cocktails, it’s the sense of togetherness and the chance to spend time with the ones we care about – while drinking a seasonal cocktail. We’re leaning into the spirit of that with these two bottles.

The first is our annual release of Maker’s Mark® 101, followed by this year’s CommUNITY Batch bottle, a Whisky Drop Exclusive. Each one has a history of bringing people together.

FIRESIDE MANHATTAN This one takes the classic Manhattan and gives it a little holiday flair. While we normally recommend Maker’s 46 ®, substituting 101 will fit perfect with the season.

2 parts Maker’s Mark 46 ® Bourbon

•

1 part mulled wine

•

2 dashes Angostura® Aromatic Bitters

•

Orange peel studded with fresh cloves for garnish

ROSEMARY MAPLE SOUR More citrus-forward, this cocktail brings in a taste of rosemary.

It’s very sippable and pairs visually with your tree.

1-1/2 parts Maker’s Mark® CommUNITY Batch Bourbon

•

3/4 part fresh lemon juice

•

1/2 part maple syrup (or to taste)

•

1 sprig fresh rosemary

•

Fresh rosemary sprig and lemon slice for garnish

101 has always been a special serve – a pour saved for special guests at the distillery. Eventually, we decided it was just too good not to share with everyone. We wanted to give you all a chance to share with special guests of your own. Now, we do every year. The higher proof makes the bourbon stand out in a cocktail but also amplifies the flavors so you can just enjoy 101 on its own. Either way, we know your guests will love it.

AROMA: Ripe fruit with bold spice on nose

TASTE: Rich, creamy and soft with spice, fruit and caramel

FINISH: Mellow, creamy midpalate finish that pleasantly lingers

CommUNITY

BATCH

If the name doesn’t give it away, the CommUNITY Batch bottle is one made by the community to help the community. It’s a deliciously unified blend of different expressions created by the mentors of The LEE Initiative’s Women Culinary and Spirits Program. What makes it even more special is that profits from each bottle go back toward helping those in the restaurant industry. Since it’s their busiest time of the year, we’re happy to look out for them. It’s a bottle that tastes good and does good.

AROMA: Brown sugar, toffee and cinnamon

TASTE: Caramelized sugar, dried spice, citrus peel

FINISH: Dark, viscous, with lingering baking spices

Behind The

LEE

Initiative

We’ve been proudly partnering with The LEE Initiative since 2018, and we’re still fully invested in helping the organization and its important programs whenever we can. It’s been exciting to see how it has grown and evolved through the years.

2020 was obviously a difficult time for restaurant workers, but The LEE Initiative came through, providing workers with necessary assistance through its Restaurant Workers Relief and Restaurant Reboot Relief programs. It also provides education and leadership guidance though the Culinary Education Program as well as The Woman Culinary and Spirits Program.

Now, five years after it got its start, The LEE Initiative is beginning a new chapter. It’s creating a nonprofit restaurant in Washington D.C. with the aim to address some of the issues in the industry and demonstrate what sustainable restaurants can look like. We’re looking forward to all of what this next phase will bring.
