It’s not every day that fans of a bourbon get to have a hand in actually making it. But this Drop features two expressions where we made that happen. Not by having them just point at a barrel, but truly sip by sip. Both expressions taste so good, we almost feel we should be a little worried those who participated might try coming for our jobs. 2023 Members’ Select

The Private Selection program has been a perfect way to work with others to create new and unique expressions of our signature whisky. Making these two bottles was the first time we opened it up – for the specific reason of working with Whisky Drop members like you. We split the members into two groups and gave the first a direction of “the smells and flavors of caramel corn served at a football game.” get to decide if they nailed the assignment.

AROMA:

Sweet cinnamon, ripe fruit and honey

TASTE:

Salted caramel, graham cracker and maple

FINISH:

Medium body, center palate and a sweet finish

2023 WHISKY DROP Members’ Select #2

While the other group was working to capture caramel corn in a liquid form, members of our second group were diligently tasting their way to “Chess Pie.” Given the choice between an actual slice and this bottle, we feel pretty confident you’d pick this delicious, dessert-like expression nine times out of 10. But we’ll let you be the judge.

Brown sugar, vanilla bean with toasted almond

TASTE:

Butterscotch, fudge and raisin

PRIVATE SELECTION EXPERIENCE

Since the Private Selection experience began, creating an expression has been reserved primarily for organizations and retailers. But we happily changed that on October 28, 2022, inviting Whisky Drop by Maker’s Mark® members – just like you

to create their very own expression together.

We brought in 14 of our most enthusiastic members who have been with the Drop the longest, attended our virtual tastings and completed reviews and post-shipment surveys. (Taking notes? There’s always a chance we do this again.)

Before they dove in, we thought it’d be good to provide a little extra immersion in Maker’s Mark®. For starters, Bill Samuels, Jr., was there waiting to greet them all before they enjoyed a lunch at Star Hill Provisions ®. That was followed up by a behind-the-scenes tour of our distillery production process. After all that inspiration, they got to work creating the very bottles you just had delivered.

Spending time with special guests at Star Hill Farm has been a tradition since Bill, Sr., and Margie were running things.

We’d love for you to be a part of that tradition one day.
