Rational Sprinklers are already required in stick-built homes and some manufactured homes. Requiring sprinklers in all homes would increase occupant safety and should reduce the likelihood that the home could become the ignition source for a wildfire. Cost Estimate $6,000 to $8,000 Resident Comments* from the May 22 Community Meeting •• If people want them put them in. If not… •• Cost is higher than actually new systems (dry) as low as $1.50/sf •• What would it cost to install in an existing stick built? •• Add sprinklers to the eave on the roof •• Sprinklers in the home do not prevent your roof from catching fire •• CA required by law in all new houses •• Fire prone area roof top sprinklers in the future •• I object to having to pay a licensed sprinkler installer do this job. As I am a skilled plumber (not a contractor) this adds a lot of $$ to my house build

Other Comments* from the May 22 Community Meeting •• Building codes are written by the national fire protection association since 1890; US standards •• Many retired folks who want to come back won’t be able to if this is a “code” •• Homes would cost too much, since this would only apply to less expensive mobile (manufactured) homes •• Would PID be able to provide pressure for all the sprinklers and fire hydrants? •• I can barely afford to rebuild as it is

* Information has not been fact-checked by the Town of Paradise

•• Would I have to retrofit my older home to sell it? If I had this would I need flood insurance?
