Raila Odinga praises Kenyan Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai and calls for more trade between African nations The Kenyan Pavilion was honoured to receive a visit from Former Prime Minister Right Hon. Raila Odinga. He was accompanied by Hon. Junet Mohamed, the Kenya-UAE Ambassador Kariuki Mugwe and Consular General Ambassador Peter Mwendwa as they toured the Kenyan Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai on 1st November 2021. Africa Union’s High Representative on Infrastructure Development Right Hon. Raila Odinga called on African nations to improve their infrastructure so as to improve trade amongst themselves. “At the moment it stands at just about 15 per cent we want to upscale it to 30 per cent, then 50 per cent gradually. One of the inhibiting factors has been poor infrastructure in the continent and we have to ensure that the infrastructure in the continent is improved so that we can increase trade among African Countries,” he remarked.

Right Hon. Odinga visited the Kenyan Pavilion and said that the move by Kenya to participate at the Expo is very welcome. “It is an opportunity to showcase what Kenya has to offer to the rest of the world. As they say if you don’t tell your story nobody will tell it for you.” “What I have seen here is very impressive, from agricultural products to processed goods and value -added goods. Showing tourism potential of our country in relation to our different cultures, our unity in diversity or in other words ‘azimio la umoja’ I’m very impressed by what I have seen here at Kenya’s pavilion. Kenya measures very well with what I have seen from other countries.”

27th October 2021 Consulate General of Kenya in Dubai, Ambassador Kariuki Mugwe visited the Kenyan Pavilion on 27th November 2021. Thereafter, he visited the Ethiopian, Ugandan and Rwandan Pavilions to express solidarity and strengthen Kenyan’s bilateral relations with its neighbouring countries.

1st November 2021 Right Hon. Raila Odinga accompanied by Hon. 9 Kenya’s participation at Dubai Expo was also featured on i24 News TV, an Israel TV station that broadcasts in Arabic, English and French. The Commissioner General Dr. Wilfred Marube was interviewed on Kenya’s participation at the Expo on Sunday 24th October 2021 at 11.05am EAT, by David Fiszon The objective of the interview was to demystify the Expo and what is in it for Kenya in terms of opportunities presented in trade, tourism and investments.
