Welcome Hereford Friends, On behalf of our crew at Journagan Ranch of Missouri State University, we would like to invite you to be with us October 3, 2020. As we prepare for our 29th sale and celebrate 40 years in the Hereford business, we want to say “THANK YOU” for the support of our customers and friends. Our Goal is to provide the BEST Hereford Genetics to the Beef Cattle Industry. We use all the available tools to provide documentation to enhance our genetics to be more predictable and profitable. Our cow herd is very maternal. They are raised on fescue and are very adapted to our environment. We pay particular attention to the economic relevant traits like foot, structure, udder, teat, fleshing ability and most importantly Fertility. We feel carcass is a trait that the whole Industry should be concerned about. We have 20 years of ultrasound data that have influenced our Genetics. Most importantly we listen to our customer needs, concerns and value their input. We are excited about the Quality of cattle in this year’s offering. We look forward to your appraisal. We have a deep set of cows that are tried and proven. The heifer calves are exciting and the pinnacle of our breeding program. The Bulls powerful and range ready. The young Bull prospects are the Best ever. All Bulls have Genomic Enhanced EPD’s. The Bred heifers were selected from the heart of our replacements. Many Dams of Distinction and Sires of Distinction are represented and are anchored by generations of Journagan Genetics. We are honored to be 6th on American Hereford Associations list of Dams Distinction for 2019. 2020 Journagan Ranch Sale Cattle Junior Futurity

We are changing the format for our Junior Futurity this year. We will be doing a virtual show. We ask if you are interested in participating, that you have someone video you showing your animal at home. Make sure you include all views of your animal and in motion. Just like you would exhibit your animal at a show. When finished with your video please submit by e-mail to: carriecrews@missouristate.edu. Please have those submitted by September 20th. We will have a judge evaluate the presentations and make their decision. My goal is to have the judge make a video response and forward to the participants. Juniors who purchased animals in the 2019 sale will be vying for almost $5000 to spend towards purchase of cattle in the 2020 sale. The sale will be held in the ballroom at the Bond building. This is the brick building on your left as you enter the gate. This facility is environmentally controlled, handicap assessable and allows for social distancing. The cattle will still be displayed in the same place as usual at the west end of the property. We will have a shuttle that will run between the cattle display and the sale site. There is parking for cars at that building. We have a City of Springfield Ordinance and a Missouri State University policy that require face covering and social distancing. This practice we hope will provide safety and comfort of our guests. Facial covering will be provided if needed. Video will be used during the sale. We will have large LCD screens set up.
