A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN OF ADMISSION Dear {{Preferred-Opt-In}}, Before the summer passes by and the busy application season sets in, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Dean of Undergraduate Admission at Tulane University. My role is to identify talented high school students who I believe could be an excellent fit for the community of students on our campus. While you’re out of school and have more free time this summer, I encourage you to virtually visit Tulane. Our VirTUal Visiting webpage has been thoughtfully created by Tulane Admission Counselors working hard to replicate the campus tour experience and bring as much information about Tulane to you to inform your college decision. The virtual visiting experience is more robust than ever before, and we are thrilled to bring these opportunities for engagement to thousands of students all over the world. When we are able to again, we invite you to visit Tulane’s campus in person. The Office of Undergraduate Admission hosts several events throughout the fall for prospective students and families, including daily campus tours and Campus Preview Day. You can learn more about our on-campus visit opportunities at admission.tulane.edu/visit. We hope to be able to host you on campus this fall. I know that the unprecedented times we find ourselves in have impacted your educational, extracurricular, and social experiences, but rest assured that Tulane Undergraduate Admission is understanding of these extraordinary circumstances and will not penalize you for events out of your control. We may have been affected, but we will not be defined by the coronavirus pandemic. I wish you the best of luck as you begin the college application process, and look forward to reviewing your application this fall. Roll Wave,

Satyajit Dattagupta

Vice President of Enrollment Management & Dean of Admission

Tulane University has decided to go test optional for students applying in the fall of 2020 for the fall 2021 entering class (Class of 2025). It is up to the applicant whether or not they should submit standardized test scores. If the applicant feels that their SAT or ACT score accurately reflects their academic aptitude, we welcome them to submit their scores. If an applicant chooses not to submit their scores, there will be no penalty for this. Students will be able to indicate if they’re submitting a test optional application on either Common App or Tulane applications.

RESEARCH WITH GLOBAL IMPACT As a Carnegie classified “high research activity” university, research is not reserved for faculty and graduate students at Tulane, but rather serves as a foundational and enriching academic experience for undergraduate students across Newcomb-Tulane College. Our undergraduates have assisted faculty and completed their own research on topics ranging from prenatal stress in infant psychology, to innovating responses to the opioid epidemic, to translating Russian texts. There is no limit to the kinds of projects students can take on or the scope and impact of their researching findings.

BEST # 3 COLLEGE CITY PRINCETON REVIEW 2020

NEW ORLEANS Tulane is located in the heart of Uptown New Orleans. New Orleans is a vital backdrop to the Tulane student experience, both academically and socially. Tulane students step off campus to immerse themselves in the unparalleled culture of New Orleans. Whether it’s enjoying the greenery in Audubon Park right across the street from campus, taking a leisurely streetcar ride, going to a Saints game, or participating in the city’s many festivals and celebrations, New Orleans makes the Tulane experience unlike any other.

ACADEMIC FLEXIBILITY Tulane academic programs are offered through five undergraduate schools: The A.B. Freeman School of Business, The School of Architecture, The School of Liberal Arts, The School of Public Health, and The School of Science and Engineering. All five schools are housed in Newcomb- Tulane College. Students who are admitted to Tulane are admitted to Newcomb-Tulane College. This academic structure enables students to have the flexibility to enroll in courses across schools, as well as double or triple major across schools. Such flexibility allows students to explore their diverse academic interests or discover a new field of study, all while completing their education in a timely manner.

PUBLIC SERVICE Public service is an integral part of the Tulane experience. Tulane was the first major research institution to integrate public service into academic life through service learning, an educational experience built upon a collaborative partnership between the university and the community. Service learning occurs in various forms, including through a course within a student’s major, a public service internship, or a service project abroad.
