In just two editions, Nexus Luxembourg has established itself as one of Europe’s most distinctive innovation gatherings.

Far from being another anonymous mega-conference, it has deliberately chosen a boutique-style format that privileges substance over noise, human encounters over spectacle.

And yet, the numbers already speak volumes: 8,452 registrations from 57 countries, 659 speakers — including 144 startup founders — 73 exhibitors, 284 formal matchmaking meetings, over 17,000 connections through the event app, and nearly a thousand guests at the Closing Seated Dinner. The ambition is clear: to place Luxembourg firmly on the global map of AI, technology, and innovation.

What makes Nexus Luxembourg unique is the diversity of its community. Government policymakers sit alongside established corporations, leading financial-centre players, dynamic SMEs, venture capital funds, technology experts, thought leaders, and an ever-growing contingent of startups and scale-ups.

Students and researchers in AI, business, and tech mingle with executives and investors from across Europe and far beyond — from Asia to the Americas, from Africa to the Middle East. This breadth is both a strength and a challenge: each stakeholder arrives with distinct expectations, whether for policy debate, knowledge exchange, business development, or talent scouting.

Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, at Nexus officialised a strategic partnership with Luxembourg.

An initial local team will be working on the deployment of sovereign AI solutions for government and defence. This partnership illustrates the government’s desire to focus on European artificial intelligence that is controlled and adapted to national contexts. Their presence aims to attract the attention of other players to the Luxembourg ecosystem.

The announcement was made during the Nexus conference, where Coinbase’s EMEA VP Daniel Seifert praised Luxembourg’s regulatory clarity. Luxembourg will now host Coinbase’s European crypto hub, thanks to its supportive blockchain policies and innovation ecosystem.

This marks a strategic shift after previous plans to base the MiCA hub in Dublin. The company is expanding, hiring 20 people in Luxembourg and strengthening its infrastructure services. With $9.9bn in reserves and 35% of revenue from non-trading sources, Coinbase is positioning itself as a key B2B financial player.

The Israeli-American fund JVP is planning a new $1bn fund to invest in growth companies applying AI to key sectors: finance, insurance, cybersecurity, climate or agriculture. Founder Erel Margalit at Nexus 2025 advocated for an ambitious European strategy, based on transatlantic cooperation and local centres of excellence, one of which could see the light of day in Luxembourg.

The European Investment Bank signed a €15m venture debt deal with Artec 3D, a Luxembourg-based 3D scanning specialist, to support its R&D activities in Luxembourg and Portugal. This public-private partnership aims to strengthen European competitiveness in 3D vision technologies, whilst promoting deeptech and the continent’s technological autonomy.

Under the impetus of Jean-Paul Olinger, the Luxembourg Inland Revenue (ACD) is rolling out an ambitious plan focused on user experience, digitising services and integrating artificial intelligence.

The aims: to make tax returns easier, improve fraud detection and achieve 85% pre-filled forms by 2028, whilst preserving taxpayer consent.

On the second day of Nexus, OCSiAl CEO Konstantin Notman announced future investment of €300m and 300 jobs. This is the continuation of the expansion begun in 2012 in Luxembourg. The OCSiAl group is active in the field of carbon nanomaterials and is a world leader in the production and distribution of single-walled carbon nanotubes.

These nanotubes make it possible to improve the qualities and performance of other materials with which they are mixed, and can be applied in particular to polymers, certain metals or construction materials.

— Job redesign and human value: As routine tasks vanish and employees focus on empathy and judgment, ZeroOps will require reskilling and cultural change.

— AI-first process redesign: Simply automating today’s workflows is not enough. Processes must be redesigned with an AI-first approach, removing unnecessary steps and embedding proactivity at the core.

— Technology is only part of the program: Tools and platforms account for just a part of the journey. Success depends on aligning teams around agility, prevention, and customer experience.

Conclusion Implementing a successful ZeroOps approach takes time and is not affordable immediately to all customer service teams. Naturally, those that have already invested in SaaS-based customer engagement platforms are better positioned, as they can leverage the off-the-shelf AI agents increasingly embedded by vendors into their solutions, accelerating adoption and reducing costs.

Yet, ZeroOps is a balancing act: Organizations must unlock efficiency, agility, and experience while managing risks in compliance, security, and job redesign.

In summary, ZeroOps is more than a technological shift. It is about reimagining processes that start with AI at the core, combine automation with human judgment, and build trust through governance and resilience. For customer service leaders, the promise is clear: A model that prioritizes the reinforcing effects of efficiency, speed, and client experience—and where operations become invisible—brings the customer relationship to the forefront.

Through participation in Nexus 2050, the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg, the Directorate-General for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), the Publications Office and the European Investment Fund as well as the European Commissioner Maria Luís Albuquerque and high level institutional speakers highlighted European Union initiatives to support companies specialising in new technologies, digitalisation and defence efforts.

Among the programmes presented was InvestEU. With a budget of EUR 26.2 billion, the InvestEU Fund aims to unlock

almost EUR 372 billion in private investment by supporting investors and strengthening their capacity to absorb risks. A concrete example of this is the signature, in the margins of NEXUS, of a long-term partnership worth EUR 15 million between the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and Artec 3D. This funding will enable the company to develop its next generation 3D digitalisation technologies, as well as its 3D data processing algorithms. The operation supports key European innovation and technologies, thus making a very concrete contribution to the political priorities of the European Union.

For the European Commission, the international audience of Nexus 2050 is also an opportunity to promote the initiative Choose Europe.

Launched in May 2025, this campaign aims to attract highly qualified scientists, researchers and professionals to Europe.

New Technologies = New Competencies?

On June 18th, IMS (Inspiring More Sustainability) held a conference in the Sigma Room named “Beyond Our Horizons: Expanding Digital Skills in Companies” which highlighted the importance of digital skills in this rapidly digitalising work that is strongly impacted by AI.

Introduction to the conference “Beyond Our Horizons: Expanding Digital Skills in Companies”

“Digital skills are of major strategic importance for the integration of AI in Luxembourg-based companies.”, stated Elisabeth Margue, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, during her opening speech. This becomes evident when analysing closer the statistics that Inès Baer, head of data, statistics & labour market studies at ADEM presented: in December 2024, the most job positions were offered in the domain of technology and information (n=203), whereas the highest amount of job searchers were specialised in administrative jobs (n =1990).

This juxtaposition clearly illustrates the current skills gap.

So, how do we manage this “skills gap”?

Most people see the gap as a threat, but what if we look at it as an opportunity?

Of course, AI is going to replace some of our jobs – it already is – but it is also going to create new ones. So, to adapt to this change, one must, now more than ever, improve current skills or learn new skills by focusing on increasingly important skills such as AI, cybersecurity or technological culture. Even more importantly, one must invest into the competencies that are transcendental, such as creativity, flexibility and lifelong learning. Those are the real competencies of the future, that will allow us to be prepared for the work revolution that is only getting started.

What’s next?

Samuel Nowakowski, researcher in digital humanities at the University of Lorraine raised an important question: “What kind of society do we want to build with AI?”. At IMS Luxembourg, we help companies to manage the complexities of this question through our project New Tech Adaptation for Companies (NTAC). We strongly believe that digital skills are the key for an inclusive and environmentally sustainable application of this new technology.

In this second edition of the event, the Go International Business Meetings—organized

by International Affairs in collaboration with the Enterprise Europe Network—facilitated over 300 B2B meetings through the matchmaking platform.

This marks an impressive 50% increase compared to 2024, reflecting the growing momentum of the event in fostering business relationships beyond borders.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Luxembourg’s leading startup acceleration programme, Fit 4 Start, and for the second time, Nexus Luxembourg 2025 had the honour of hosting its highly anticipated graduation ceremony as the closing event of Day 1.

Fifteen promising startups took the stage at Nexus Luxembourg this year to celebrate their graduation after completing six months of intensive, tailored coaching.

Following a competitive selection and pitching process in autumn 2024, 20 startups were selected for participation in Fit 4 Start from 420 applications submitted by companies from nearly 70 different countries. This 15th edition supported projects across three categories: digital, healthtech and space.

The startups received six months of tailored coaching, as well as a grant of €50,000 each – subject to incorporation in Luxembourg – provided by the Ministry of the Economy. Those that go on to raise additional funding and hire at least two employees may be eligible for a further €100,000 in public support.

Launched in 2015 by the Ministry of the Economy, the programme is managed by Luxinnovation in partnership with Technoport, the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), Luxembourg City Incubator, the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), the House of Biohealth, the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, and LuxProvide.

Since its inception, Fit 4 Start has attracted over 3,000 applications from startups around the world, making it one of Luxembourg’s flagship initiatives for innovation and entrepreneurship.

A Stellar Launch One of the highlights of Day 1 at Nexus Luxembourg 2025 was the launch of the AI Excellence Awards, held right after the Fit 4 Start Graduation Programme. Organized

by FEDIL, in collaboration with Luxinnovation and supported by the Chamber of Commerce, the awards were created to shine a spotlight on groundbreaking AI solutions driving Luxembourg’s economic, societal, and environmental progress.

The inaugural edition was graced by the presence of Jean-Louis Schiltz (Vice Chairman, FEDIL), Elisabeth Margue ( Minister of Justice, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Relations with Parliament), and Celine Tarraube (Adviser Digital and Innovation, FEDIL), underscoring the importance of innovation and policy support in advancing Luxembourg’s digital ambitions.

At Nexus Luxembourg 2025, innovation took center stage at the Start-up Hive and Demo Arena. Every participating startup—whether based in the Hive or showcasing at a destination pavilion—was given the spotlight to pitch their vision on the Demo Arena stage. With just three minutes per pitch, founders presented their best ideas before a distinguished jury.

In collaboration with Startup Luxembourg, the Demo Arena became a truly global showcase.

Over 145 startups from across the world—spanning the UAE, USA, UK, India, South Korea, Japan, Morocco, Germany, France, Belgium, and beyond— stepped forward to share their solutions. Notably, more than 65% of participants hailed from outside Luxembourg, highlighting the event’s international reach and appeal.

The jury evaluated each pitch on novelty, preparation, and delivery skills, ensuring that every entrepreneur had a fair chance to shine. For many founders, this was not just about competition but also about visibility—an invaluable platform to connect with investors, peers, and potential partners on a global stage.

With its constant buzz and energy-packed pitches, the Demo Arena turned out to be one of the most dynamic spaces at Nexus Luxembourg 2025.

Yneuro Named Start-up of the Year French neurotechnology start-up Yneuro took home the title of Start-up of the Year at the Nexus Closing Seated Dinner 2025, beating out more than 145 competitors who pitched at the Demo Arena.

The award came with €25,000 in prizes, including €10,000 in cash, plus an invitation to return for Nexus Luxembourg 2026 with a free stand and flight. The award was handed over in front of a packed room of more than 950 guests by Cécile Lorenzini, Head of Marketing and Communication at Luxinnovation.

Who is Yneuro?

Founded in 2019 at Station F in Paris, Yneuro is building technology that blends biometric authentication, neural signal processing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

Their main product, NeuroID®, uses a person’s brainwaves— what they call a “neural signature”— to verify identity. Instead of typing passwords or scanning fingerprints, users can log in securely with signals picked up by lightweight neural sensors.

Among the 350 students, a selected group of students from over 30 universities across 14 countries took part in a guided company tour on June 19—the day after the main Nexus exhibitions—designed to deepen their exposure to Luxembourg’s professional landscape. Divided across two buses, they visited the headquarters of their sponsoring organizations: Deloitte, Banque de Luxembourg, POST Luxembourg, and AG2R La Mondiale.

Car approving its own insurance claim, salaries tokenized into digital assets, or wearable’s securing micro-loans— all without visiting a branch or opening an app.

Pankaj highlights how banking is evolving beyond traditional walls.

The future of banking is being shaped by three powerful forces: technology, regulation, and customer expectations. Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing will make risk models real-time and adaptive. Blockchain will simplify cross-border payments to the ease of sending a text. Regulators will continue balancing innovation with trust, ensuring stability in an increasingly decentralized world.

Most importantly, customers— especially Gen Z and Gen Alpha— will demand banking that feels as intuitive and personalized as Spotify or Netflix.

By 2035, UI-less banking will become the norm. Just as conversational AI transformed how we access knowledge, banking will move beyond screens and apps.

You won’t “log in” anymore—you’ll converse with an intelligent assistant that understands your goals, risk appetite, and intent, acting

securely and transparently on your behalf.

In this shift, trust becomes the ultimate currency. Customers will judge banks not by the look of their apps or branches, but by reliability, fairness, and ethical use of data. The winners will be those who blend innovation with integrity, ensuring automation never compromises transparency.

Some predictions are bold but inevitable. By 2035, cash will vanish—replaced by Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and tokenized assets that make every transaction traceable, programmable, and instant. Banks will no longer limit themselves to financial products; they’ll compete with lifestyle brands—offering wellness subscriptions, travel memberships, or even digital identity management as part of their core services.

Tomorrow’s customers won’t separate financial life from personal

life—they’ll expect it all in one seamless experience.

The very definition of a “bank ” will expand. Imagine a mortgage that includes renewable energy credits, furniture subscriptions, or access to community services.

Banks will evolve into experience platforms, competing with tech giants, super-apps, and lifestyle ecosystems.

Yet, one constant remains: people still need a safe place for their money and their dreams.

The banks that thrive in 2035 will be those that serve as both custodians of trust and creators of experiences - defining, not just surviving the future.

Mark your calendars: Nexus Luxembourg 2026 will be held on June 10–11, 2026 at Luxexpo The Box, Luxembourg City. Over two days, the event will gather policymakers, corporate leaders, startups, VCs, and innovators to explore the future of AI, technology, and business. With world-class keynotes, competitions, and networking formats, Nexus has become Luxembourg’s largest and most influential business, tech and AI event.

Launchpad to Europe: Nexus attracts startups and companies by giving them access not only to Luxembourg’s dynamic ecosystem, but also to the wider European market. With EU institutions based in the capital and major international companies hosting their European headquarters in Luxembourg, the country is the perfect first step into Europe.

Boutique by Design: Despite its scale, Nexus remains a boutique-style event in the heart of Europe, designed for proximity and genuine connection. Thanks to our matchmaking platform and carefully curated programme, participants can easily meet the right people: from C-level executives and policymakers to leading investors, startups, and international speakers. The event’s human scale makes Nexus a unique place to connect, collaborate, and grow.

2026, what to expect

Start-ups at the Center This year, Nexus will highlight entrepreneurship with a global startup and scale-up competition.

— 250 startups from around the world will compete in 10 categories: — FinTech & Digital Finance — Cybersecurity — Data — Space Tech — Green & Climate Tech — Health & Biotech — Smart Mobility — Industry 4.0 — GovTech & Digital Society (10th category to be announced).

— Ahead of the event, the “Most Exciting Startups” (from the categories) lists will be released.

— Startups will pitch during 90-minute Main Stage sessions (25 founders per session and topic, each startup has a 3 minutes slot) and benefit from two-day booths, as well as visibility on the event website, app and the media center (restricted to journalists).

— At the Closing Ceremony and Seated Dinner Party, the top three startups per category will be announced.

— From the 30 finalists, an international VC Jury will select one Grand Winner who will be rewarded with €100,000 (€25,000 cash and €75,000 in business services such as workspace, computing capacity, consultancy, ad space, etc.).
