WITH A MOTHER AND SISTER WHO BOTH WORK PROFESSIONALLY WITH CHILDREN, MIDWIFE LYNN KIMMES SAYS HELPING MOTHERS, COUPLES AND NEW-BORN BABIES WAS A CALLING SHE COULD NOT PASS UP.

or someone who could not quite choose a career path as a youngster, Lynn Kimmes is decidedly dedicated to her role as a midwife. “I always wanted to do something with children. My mother was a kindergarten teacher and my sister was an educator.” Once Lynn did an internship in the delivery rooms at the Centre Hospitalier she was struck by what she says is
“a calling.” With eight years experience under her belt, Lynn is now an independent midwife, part of the Association Luxembourgeoise des Sages-Femmes. “I felt immediately comfortable, delivering babies and having babies around. But it’s also about the mothers and the couple. It is a very private moment, and it is an honour to be part of that.”
our quelqu’un qui a eu du mal à choisir une carrière plus jeune, Lynn Kimmes prend au sérieux son métier de sage-femme. « J’ai toujours voulu travailler auprès des enfants. Ma mère était institutrice dans une école maternelle et ma sœur était éducatrice. » C’est en faisant un stage dans les salles d’accouchement du Centre hospitalier qu’elle a trouvé ce qu’elle appelle aujourd’hui sa « voca-

tion ». Avec huit années d’expérience, Lynn est aujourd’hui une sage-femme libérale, membre de l’Association luxembourgeoise des sages-femmes. « Je me suis sentie immédiatement à l’aise lors des accouchements et auprès des nouveau-nés. Mais mon travail concerne également les mères et les couples. Il s’agit d’un moment très intime. C’est un honneur de pouvoir en faire partie. »
