2022 ANNUAL REPORT
2
We are excited to wrap another amazing year at Main Street Ventures. In our effort to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs, we added two new programs to our Portfolio - the Inventure Entrepreneurship Academy for High School Students and the Summer Program for our Launch It: Cincy Pitch Competition for University Founders. These programs brought together students and supporters from all over the region to show off everything Cincinnati has to offer. We are looking forward to continuing to grow these programs and reach even more students in our region.
Our Community has continued to grow and flourish with the addition of 45 new Grant Recipients this year! While the full scope of our impact is outlined in this report, we wanted to share a sneak peek of a few key impact metrics from this year:
• Since 2018, we have distributed over $3 Million dollars into the Cincinnati Region by supporting over 120 small businesses and other organizations.
• Just this year, we distributed over 45 Grants totaling over $1 Million Dollars.
• Since 2018, Main Street Ventures Grant Recipients have generated over $14 Million dollars in sales for their businesses.
Not only are we continuously supporting new and emerging businesses, we continue to support the growth of our Grant Recipients by creating new opportunities to gather, learn from one another, and share our wins:
• We celebrated product companies expanding into major retailers such as Whole Foods, Target, and Dicks Sporting Goods!
• Technology Companies not only invested in their company by participating in programs like Techstars and MIT Solve, but also made progress in their fundraising rounds!
• Our Main Street Companies welcomed customers to their first (or second) retail locations in the region!
A vibrant economic future for Cincinnati requires an entrepreneurial community that removes barriers to starting and growing a business. This is why Main Street Ventures launched a community-funded initiative to continue to help make entrepreneurship possible for everyone in our region. This $8 million campaign will support Bold Ideas, Inclusion, and Growth over the next five years for our ever growing community of entrepreneurs and students. We call it: The B.I.G. Campaign.
There are many ways to get involved with Main Street Ventures and support the next generation of entrepreneurs in our region. Check out the information on the following pages to learn more. 2022 was a banner year at Main Street Ventures - Looking ahead, there is only more growth, impact, and entrepreneur support to come! We’d love for you to join us in 2023!

B.I.G. CAMPAIGN
Great ideas can come from anyone, but not everyone has the opportunity to turn their great ideas into a reality.
BOLD IDEAS. INCLUSION. GROWTH.
Unfortunately, most entrepreneurs in the Greater Cincinnati Region do not have the opportunity to build upon their good ideas because they lack access to key financial and social capital. And they’re not alone. According to a study from the Kauffman Foundation, 83% of entrepreneurs nationwide cite access to capital as the number one barrier to starting a business. Additionally, women and minority founders face even greater barriers to accessing funding and social capital.
OUR B.I.G. IDEA
The equation is simple:
GOOD IDEAS FINANCIAL CAPITAL SOCIAL CAPITAL SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES
The reality is anything but simple. That’s why Main Street Ventures is strengthening our investment in local entrepreneurs by launching a community-funded initiative to make entrepreneurship possible for everyone in Greater Cincinnati.
This $8 million campaign will support Bold Ideas, Inclusion, and Growth over the next five years - we like to call it The B.I.G. Campaign.

FUNDING PROGRAMS
LEARN SPONSORSHIPS LAUNCH FUNDING
Learn Funding provides support for organizations and events that strengthen and connect the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
These can include entrepreneur support organizations and other groups that foster resource collaboration and the development of STEM talent.
Launch Funding provides emerging, pre-revenue businesses that have a Prototype or Product (showing clear evidence of direct customer engagement validating the business model and product) with $5,000$10,000 of equity-free funding to continue development and prepare for market entry.
10
LEAP FUNDING LEVEL UP SUPPORT
Leap Funding provides promising, revenue-generating businesses with $10,000 - $30,000 of equity-free funding to scale their community impact and increase the odds of longterm survival.
Funding is awarded to businesses that demonstrate the potential to continue to create jobs and opportunities in the Greater Cincinnati Region.
Entrepreneurship is not one-size-fitsall, so why should the support be? With our Level-Up Support Program, we work with our Grant Recipients to carefully design and curate a support program tailored to meet their needs.
Our goal is to elevate their businesses by providing them the tools, connections, education, and resources you need when you need them.
