CULTURE CORNER
Celebrate Diversity Month takes place each April. It was initiated in 2004 to recognize and honor the diversity of the world around us. It is a time to recognize and understand our differences, be it gender, race, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation and other factors while honoring the common essence of humanity. By appreciating our similarities and differences, the month aims to encourage a deeper understanding of others, regardless of who they are or how they live. It’s also an opportunity to increase diversity in the workplace and various academic fields. Diversity Month pushes us to seek this knowledge so that we can build a tolerant world that welcomes everyone, regardless of who they are or where they come from

NATIONAL STRESS AWARENESS MONTH
April is recognized as National Stress Awareness Month to bring attention to the negative impact of stress. Managing stress is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. Knowing how to manage stress can improve mental and physical well-being as well as minimize exacerbation of health-related issues.
One of the difficulties with stress is that people experience stress in different ways. This contributes to stress manifesting itself differently. So it would be wrong to over generalise when giving advice on how to identify stress in others. However, what we can say is that because stress has negative effects, it will usually manifest itself one way or another.
DE-STRESSING TECHNIQUES
Practice yoga! Practice slow, mindful movement
Exercise! Getting your heart rate up can release endorphins to combat stress
Journaling!
Sometimes you just need to write things down.
Go for a walk (bonus points If you bring a furry friend)! Listen to music! Sometimes just focusing on something else helps Mindful breathing! Slowly breathe In for 4 sec, hold for 4 sec, and breathe out for 4 sec
Call a friend or loved one!
Sometimes the only way to decompress Is by talking through things
