The Maine Energy Marketers Association is proud to present the 2026 Member Services Resource Guide, created as a reliable and convenient reference for our members. Inside, you’ll find comprehensive contact information for MEMA Regular Members, Associate Members, Wholesalers, and C-Store partners—making it easy to stay connected within our industry community.
Beyond directory listings, this guide highlights key member services designed to support your business and employees. It includes detailed information on MEMA’s Health Insurance Trust and Workers’ Compensation Trust—two cornerstone programs that continue to provide stability, protection, and exceptional service to our membership.
MEMA’s work extends far beyond benefits administration. Throughout the year, we provide resources that strengthen your business, your workforce, and your connection to the energy industry. Our Member Portal offers quick access to services, event registration, and training opportunities. We also continue to invest in workforce development through the MEMA Technical Education Center (MTEC), where accelerated HVAC programs meet technician demand and supply employers with skilled, job-ready graduates.
Our annual events further reinforce the value of an engaged and united membership. From the Northern New England Energy Conference and the J. Garrie Murray Golf Classic, to the Propane Summit and Fuel Your Love, these gatherings foster collaboration, promote workforce development, and demonstrate our industry’s commitment to the communities we serve.
MEMA also supports consumerfocused initiatives, including rebate programs that encourage high-efficiency equipment upgrades, reducing energy costs for families while creating business opportunities for dealers and technicians statewide.
You’ll also find an updated listing of our congressional delegation and a directory of state agencies, providing a helpful resource for regulatory, compliance, and industry-related inquiries throughout the year.
Our goal in creating this guide is to ensure you have the tools and information needed to succeed in Maine’s energy marketplace. Your continued participation and support strengthen not only MEMA, but the future of one of Maine’s most important economic sectors—the liquid fuels industry.
On behalf of the entire MEMA team, thank you for your membership, your trust, and your commitment to the work we do together.
See you in the field,
Charles E. Summers Jr. PRESIDENT AND CEO

ENERGY CONTENT OF HEATING FUELS
To make fuel cost comparison, you have to account for the energy content in the different fuels. As measured in British thermal unit(s) (Btu). The more Btu in a fuel, the less fuel a consumer would use to meet their need.

WORKERS COMPENSATION SELF INSURANCE TRUST
Since 1991, the MODA Workers’ Compensation Self-Insured Trust has provided members a stable, costeffective alternative to the commercial insurance market—returning more than $7.65 million in refunds to date. Over the past seven years alone, members received over $2.74 million back. By pooling resources, participating members collectively insure their workers’ compensation exposures, gaining greater control over costs, claims, and safety practices.
All net profits are returned to members, not insurance companies. The program eliminates commission fees, premium taxes, and corporate overhead, resulting in lower rates than standard commercial policies. Members also benefit from a dedicated service team for loss control, claims, and underwriting, along with strong claims oversight and robust safety programs designed to prevent losses and keep premiums stable.
This proven, member-driven program rewards safe workplaces with annual dividends and financial returns—making it one of the most valuable benefits of MEMA membership.
For more information on how to protect your employees and reward your business, please contact Zoie Leavitt at zoie.leavitt@crossagency. com or (207) 688-1201 ext 11013.

MEMA HEALTH INSURANCE TRUST
The MEMA Health Insurance Trust provides members with high-quality, cost-effective health coverage through our self-insured Multiple Employer Welfare Association (MEWA). This structure allows MEMA to design medical plans that maximize benefits, control costs, and keep premiums competitive—returning value directly to members rather than an insurance company’s bottom line.
Employers gain a competitive edge with plan features not typically available from commercial carriers, helping attract and retain top talent. Employees benefit from comprehensive PPO coverage, $0 co-pays on many prescription medications, and no-cost preventive drugs under the HSA plan. MEMA’s chronic disease management programs offer exceptional support, including complimentary tools such as glucometers and test strips for diabetics.
With additional dental, vision, and life insurance options available, the MEMA Health Insurance Trust delivers quality coverage, long-term savings, and benefits that work for both employers and their teams.
If you have any questions regarding MEMA’s Health Insurance Trust, please contact Sarah Nadeau at snadeau@maineenergymarketers.com or (207) 729-5298.

CDL AND HAZMAT TRAINING
MEMA’s CDL Theory Training with Tank and HAZMAT Endorsements is offered free to members as a valuable resource for developing and retaining qualified drivers in Maine’s liquid fuels industry.
This four day course meets all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driver Training requirements and prepares participants to pass their Commercial Learner’s Permit exam and road test for a Class B CDL license.
Students gain essential knowledge through proven materials, including the J.J. Keller Entry-Level Driver Training Manual, Maine State Commercial Driver Manuals, and
MEMBER SERVICES
the Hazardous Materials Compliance Pocketbook.
Designed by and for MEMA members, this program supports workforce growth, safety, and compliance—helping Maine’s energy companies stay strong and fully staffed.
MEMA TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER
The MEMA Technical Education Center (MTEC), established in 2003, was created by and for MEMA members to meet the industry’s growing demand for highly skilled HVAC technicians. As Maine’s leading technical training facility, MTEC provides hands-on education in oilheat, propane, natural gas, heat pumps, and air conditioning— ensuring a steady pipeline of qualified professionals ready to serve Maine’s energy industry. Students spend up to 50% of their time in state-of-the-art lab facilities, gaining real-world experience on today’s high-efficiency equipment and earning industry-recognized certifications. Graduates leave well-prepared to meet licensing requirements and quickly enter the workforce with the skills employers need.
MEMA member companies play an active role in shaping MTEC’s programs by advising on curriculum, donating equipment, and hiring graduates. Members also receive discounted rates on all courses, making MTEC a cost-effective way to train new hires, upskill employees, and invest in the future of Maine’s energy workforce. The programs are continually updated to reflect industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
Oversight of MTEC’s programs is guided by the Education Committee, which establishes policies, provides strategic advice, and assists MEMA staff in planning technical training and management-level seminars for both MTEC and the association.

DEALER MEETINGS
MEMA’s annual Dealer Meetings offer members a valuable opportunity to connect, collaborate, and exchange insights with fellow members, association leaders, and local policymakers. These meetings provide a forum for sharing ideas that help shape the future of Maine’s energy industry, strengthen professional networks, and support both association-wide initiatives and individual business success.
Planned with statewide participation in mind, MEMA hosts three meetings at the end of each year, typically in Southern Maine, Bangor, and Northern Maine, ensuring members from across the state can engage, learn, and contribute to the ongoing growth and excellence of the industry.
For more information on our Dealer Meetings, please contact Megan Diver at mdiver@maineenergymarketers.com.

FUEL YOUR LOVE
For more than a decade, Fuel Your Love has brought warmth and relief to families in need across Maine. Each year on Valentine’s Day, participating member fuel dealers deliver free heating fuel—often accompanied by flowers and chocolates—to customers in their communities, spreading kindness and comfort during the coldest months of the year.
This cherished tradition reflects the deep commitment of Maine’s fuel dealers to giving back and supporting the communities they serve. MEMA provides participating companies with marketing materials, truck decals, and public relations support to help share their stories of generosity.
Members interested in participating in or sponsoring the Fuel Your Love campaign are encouraged to contact Meghan Sylvester at msylvester@maineenergymarketers. com for more information.
MAINE HEATING OIL EQUIPMENT REBATE PROGRAM
The Maine Heating Oil Equipment Rebate Program is funded through the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) and jointly administered by MEMA and Warm Thoughts Communications. The program provides rebates to customers who install a new heating oil storage tank, upgrade to a higher-efficiency oil-fired heating system, or complete both improvements.
Rebate funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is expected to reopen in the spring of 2026. To be notified when applications become available, please contact Meghan Sylvester to be added to the Rebate Program mailing list, or visit MEMA’s website or MaineRebate.com for updates.

ENDORSED VENDOR
More than a century ago, a group of business owners in a Minnesota trade association—dissatisfied with the pricing and terms offered by insurance companies—joined together to create a different kind of insurer. Their goal was to establish a mutual company focused on businesses in select industries that prioritize safety and value a superior business model, offering industry-specific coverage and risk-management resources that would help lower costs and protect their livelihoods. From that vision, Federated Mutual Insurance Company was founded.
Today, hundreds of local, state, and national affinity partners continue to embrace that mission and exclusively recommend Federated to their members. The company remains guided by its mission statement:
“As a mutual insurance company, we believe our value is measured by the success of our clients. It’s Our Business to Protect Yours®.”
Federated’s approach centers on a direct model—highly trained marketing, claims, underwriting, and field-services professionals positioned throughout the country to provide face-to-face, local consultation tailored to the industries they serve. With no middleman, Federated is uniquely equipped to deliver comprehensive, integrated risk-management support, including:
• Property and casualty coverage
• Life and disability income coverage
• Business succession and estate-planning services
• Industry-leading risk-management resources and training
Federated Insurance is headquartered in Owatonna, Minnesota, and is rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best® Company. More than a century later, the mission of the organization’s founders lives on—reflected in Federated’s continued commitment to protecting businesses, supporting safety, and helping clients succeed.

ENERGY PAC FOR MAINE
As we enter an important period in the political calendar, we ask for your engagement in the legislative process. While your focus is rightly on advancing your business, it is critical to recognize that decisions made in Augusta and Washington directly affect our industry, your employees, and the long-term health of Maine’s liquid fuels sector.
We encourage you to speak with your employees about the value of supporting business-friendly candidates and political action committees. Their awareness and participation help ensure a stable policy environment in which our industry can continue to thrive.
MEMA’s grassroots efforts have a proven track record. This past legislative session, with your help, our Energy Choice Bill passed and is now law! As we look ahead to the 2026 election cycle, it is essential that we continue supporting legislators who stand with our industry.
Engage Your Employees
More than 8,000 Mainers work in liquid fuels. If each contributed just $10 to ENERGY PAC FOR MAINE, MEMA’s Political Action Committee, the impact would be extraordinary. We ask for
your participation and for your help encouraging employees to stay informed and involved. Even a brief conversation reinforces how public policy affects their livelihoods.
