Geneva Gear Projector

What? How?

The purpose of this project was to creatively demonstrate the capability of Geneva mechanisms. This project integrates the intermittent rotary motion of the mechanism into a device capable of being used as a projector.

SolidWorks was used to design the gears, electronics cage, and film wheel of the projector. An Arduino and an IR sensor were utilized to wirelessly control the LED and Motor speed of the device.

Results

The device was able to display the animated slides placed in the film wheel slots. The electronics worked as expected but the starting and stopping of the film wheel applied a large torque on the device.
