Experience and youth vie for Rodney votes The race to win Rodney in this month’s general election has six parties jockeying for positions on the starting line. The candidates are Colin Craig for the Conservatives, Beth Houlbrook for Act, Tracey Martin for NZ First, Mark Mitchell for National, Teresa Moore for the Greens, and Christine Rose for Labour. Mrs Martin is the only candidate to have faced the electorate in a national election before. She stood for NZ First in 2008 securing 1599 (or 4.26 percent) of the votes. The departure of Lockwood Smith, now number three on the National Party list, has thrown the field open, although history would give National the advantage.
One of these six candidates will be Rodney’s next representative in Parliament.
