project 1.2 - the experiencing
The perception of a street and suburb can vary greatly from person to person, influenced by various factors such as age, culture, socioeconomic status, and personal preferences. These elements shape how individuals perceive their surroundings. For one person, a street might be a vibrant and bustling hub of activity, filled with community spirit and lively energy. However, for another person, it may be a chaotic and noisy space, lacking a sense of safety or belonging. Similarly, a suburb can evoke feelings of tranquility and security for some, while others might associate it with monotony or isolation. Our experiences of streets and suburbs are ultimately influenced by a complex interplay of individual and societal factors, making each person’s experience unique.
In this project, we drew upon our personal experiences to observe, reflect, and question the architectural and urban aspects of a specific location. As we imagine recreating a meal, we explored the intricacies of our chosen site, delving into its design, layout, and overall experience. By examining this environment, we gained a deeper understanding of its architectural and urban significance, and the impact it has on individuals.
