MAHEK P. GANDHI ARCHITECTURAL PORTFOLIO SELECTED WORKS 2015-2020

Architecture is not just about designing buildings, but all about the contribution which we are giving to society and nature. The study of architecture has always taught me how to think uniquely and logically and yet be sensitive towards the surrounding. It has always been my motto to learn new things and experiment with ideas and design philosophy. Apart from architecture, I have always been interested in other socio-cultural activities, workshops, and competitions where I can learn new things and explore the other fields as well.

STAFF HOUSING YEAR IV / SEMESTER VIII HOUSING ACADEMICS Project: STAFF HOUSING Mentor: Ar. Hemrashmi Parekh - Ar. Chintan Shah Site: Rawatbhata, Kota, Rajasthan. Site Area: 60,000 Sq.Mt.

The design brief was to provide an extension for R.A.P.S(Rawatbhata Atomic Power Station) Housing for the employees of the department. Rawatbhata is a city located in Rajasthan. Which has eight nuclear power stations. And also, known for one of the biggest dams in Rajasthan. Different cadres of groups are segregated to obtain 4 different typologies of housing. The major designing concerns were to incorporate, multiple religious people with discrete income groups. Altogether with diverse age group into a peculiar space. The form of the site was obtained from the planning to reduce cut and fill of the land. Since the existing condition of the site has a total contour of 7 meters. The street pattern flows in every cluster which depicts the rajasthani culture. It is to blend the relationship among the people, structure and community. The planning is done in 3 stages: Stage 1, Introduction of the main road in the center of the site. Stage 2, Adoption of the form to avoid cut and fill of the land. Stage 3, Resolving of the spaces through justifying the core idea through climatic conditions of the Rajasthan.

The kindergarten was a proposal for a 350 units mass housing scheme. - The south-west zone of the site has been retained open to create a buffer space between nearby public areas and the classrooms. - Instead of covering the classrooms with the walls from all the sides, it has kept transparent from one or two sides to make the children connect with the outdoor things.
