Modular Home/Work space
Container: The Psyche Vessel
Profession: Criminal/Forensic Psychologist
By Maheen Khan 0436
Adhering to container living, my profession as a forensic psychologist is as minimalist as it is adapts to the minimalist lifestyle. With the idea of mobility it also incorporates element of durability, flexibility and change through its materials and interior furnishings. By making the structure revolvable the habitat can easily blend into the environment, it is set into by manipulating the shade and light to how it is needed in the specific climate. Using a bamboo skin facade is another positive facror especially when the containers main location would be outside district jails and detention centers in Pakistan.

The freedom of choosing from 20' to 40' containers aids my profession as a criminal psychologist As well as there being mobility, the open space plan allows the freedom of mind and body. Keeping the work zone seperate is important for this profession as the offender cannot view ones private space.

Foldable stairs leading up to first floor, the private zone. Criminal Psychologists need to move around visiting multiple detention centers and jails hence cost effective exterior should be used to avoid any disturbances as breakage accidents

ELEMENT OF CHANGE
The Sharifi House in Tehran, Iran by Next Office–Alireza Taghaboni is a one of my main case study regarding mobility within the structure Containers being load bearing allows for this flexibility. The shape-shifting facade allow the owners to adapt to Iran's fluctuating temperatures by opening up rooms in summer, or turning them inwards during winter. Similarly this allows my habitat to adapt to its desired destination
A multi-purpose 1st floor, when set in its place, it acts a a cantilivered shade over the deck but when turned 180, allows a new body of light to enter and opens up the turf on the roof through simple integrated mechanics
The simple mechanism of a revolving turntables has been used in theaters ever since, Whereas here it inspires the functionality of the house and how it reacts to my activities just by a switch.
MATERIALITY AND CONTAINER LIVING
With about 14 million ‘out-of-service’ containers in the world, there are lots of them available; to recycle and use it in a modular way feels like a great achievement. As I am the resident/ user of the mobile unit for living, working and entertainment; my requirements as a forensic psychologist needs no big sole stage or dedicated area but as a whole; a complete and calming space is desired. Most important factor is held by the ease of transportation in container living, moreover lowcosts and low budget fixtures. All the ideal concepts for a profession that has to study documents and people morning to night.
Bamboo skin facade
-a light building material, which is easy to handle, transport and store
Timber skin clad facade
-Better at retaining heat than concrete, steel, and aluminium
-Effective insulation from timber cladding and shingles reduce the reliance on heating and cooling systems in a building, promoting environmentally friendly energy usage.
Back View
Container Opening
- The original container doors are fabricated into plexiglass gates with wooden panels acting as blinds. Through this, it forms a connection of outside and inside.
Work Room Wall
-The plexiglass is used in detention centers hence I have used it here just in case of any reaction. Moreover it is lightweight for mobility and high weatherability The decidous vines adds to the calming factor
