When entering the center, the individual observes the structured roof and wall that assists the external light to enter. As time passes, it is understandable that the orientation of the site is on a unique scale facing both north and south sides hence acquiring all forms of light from cast shadows to direct light.

Deadened volume like stairs can be brought to life when beams of natural light pierce into the reception space, forming an exhbition itself.

FRONT DESK

The reception/front desk leads down to the gallery through the almost translucent stairs as they illuminate external light underneath. The visitor experiences light forms from the reception towards the gallery spaces.

of light to mutate through time"

The main gallery catches light on the south side and eventually north side, casting forms inside the center. It catches the eye of the visitor and gives the gallery its importance. The gallery area can be spotted across the main reception area. The sculptural walls allow multiple tones of lightness and darkness thus createing multiple spaces.

Taking inspiration from my surrounding, the light i noticed came from multiple ceiling bulbs however for the use of natural light, we can manipulate the eye.

The visitor walks past the illuminated sharp corners of the main gallery towards the gallery corridor. Mainly receiving natural light from the south west hence well lit. The space allows to orchestrate an experience by manipulating the walls to create two directional light sources. By evening the diffused light forms an illusion of shadows overlapping.

My existing visitor center had circular apertures that allowed the north light to emerge however there was no volume. Applying Chiaroscuro, a method employed by the visual arts, I structured the apertures/wall in a manner that causes strong contrasts between light and dark achieving a sense of volume; forming a distinctive play of light and shadow.

EVERY SOLID BODY IS SURROUNDED AND CLOTHED WITH LIGHT AND DARKNESS.

CONSULTATION ROOM

The light that comes through neither distracts the visitor nor the space stays dim. The dynamic daylight it receives is able to provoke different visual experiences and moods. The visitor exits the center having been able to perceive different atmospheres in the physical environment due to the significant role of light and shadow.
