Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
This course covers basic life support skills such as the AHA Chain of Survival; one and two man CPR for the adult, child, and infant; response to choking (both conscious and unconscious) in the adult, child, and infant; airway management techniques; and AED use.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
This course uses simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systemic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support (BLS), PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.
This program consists of two components: 1) a self-paced online theory course of 24 modules, and 2) a regionally based clinical practicum. Upon successful completion of both the didactic and clinical portions of this course, students with an inactive/expired license may apply for renewal/reinstatement of their nursing license through the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
