School in Zimbabwe

School life in Zimbabwe is an important part of a student's growth Children attend both government and private schools, with government schools being more common due to their affordability. The school day starts early, around 7:30 am, and includes a mix of lessons, breaks, and extracurricular activities like sports Subjects such as English, Math, Science, and Social Studies are taught, and students also engage in physical education and arts. During school breaks, students play games and socialize with friends, building important relationships and learning teamwork. In rural areas, schools may face challenges like limited resources and long distances, but students and teachers remain dedicated to learning. Despite the challenges, education is highly valued in Zimbabwe, and students strive for success, knowing that it is the key to a brighter future.

School in Moldova

I attended school in Moldova for one year and a half so I don’t have a lot of opinions to share, although I have analysed the educational system there and I think it is stricter This might make a lot of people think it is better but it really isn't The pressure makes a lot of students learn not because of the benefits it opens and the privileges it provides Of course, cases are different, and students create their own mindset of education I personally love Ireland’s educational system more because of the kinder and smarter approach to teaching, and overall school life. The material taught in Moldova is harder for age levels, I think. Education in Moldova is most definitely influenced by the education system from the Soviet Union unlike Ireland The system of education in Ireland is mostly based on western European standards That is my personal differentiations between both education systems. Thank you for your time

Dancing into my Heritage

Joyin1 yearisNigerianandhereshetellsusabouthertraditionalIgbodancecrew...

Hi! My name is Joy, and I am part of a traditional Igbo kids dance crew! If you don't know what that means, let me break it down. I am Nigerian, but my parents come from 2 different tribes. My mom is Benin from Edo state and my dad is Igbo from Delta state, Anioma to be precise

My Dad is part of a committee called Izu Anioma Ireland, a nationwide group for Igbo people like him where they can discuss issues and embrace their heritage Every year all the groups from different counties come together for a big celebration and that’s where I and the dance crew come in

The women of the committee decided in a meeting that it would be a good idea for the children to perform and, I’m not going to lie, I was quite sceptical at first, but my parents thought it would be a good idea for me to be more immersed in my heritage So, I went to the first practice, literally shaking in my boots. Luckily I saw some familiar faces, plus my sister was there, so it was okay Practice after practice after practice later, I started to get the hang of it. I even started to enjoy it !

Today is the day! Twas the night of my big and slightly dreaded performance. I was nervous but encouraging words from my family and the totally cute Akwa ocha lightened the load Rewind! If you don't know what akwa ocha is, it's a really beautiful traditional. handmade woven fabric worn for important occasions such as weddings, birthdays and funerals It is a highly valued attire and it also serves as a token of identification. In this case, I wore it for the big celebration. Before I knew it, the others and I got called to stage. I was so nervous but once I started dancing it was almost hard to stop! It was really the best! And not to brag, but I think I'm quite good too!
