It’s hello again to Rustics old and new; Verwood’s favourite day out is fast approaching once more. It’s amazing that for an event that lasts five hours we spend a year, on and off, preparing for it; there are many ups and downs along the way, but somehow we seem to get there year after year, in fact thirty-one years for Verwood Rotary Club. The good news is that we have attracted several new members to join the Club, and their involvement has not only lightened the load, but brought with it many new ideas. That gives me the opportunity to slip in a plug for the Club should you consider joining:- - We meet twice a month; one pure business & one to include a meal. We are very relaxed and social, but at the same time work on numerous projects for good causes both locally and worldwide. There are no age limits, and in these enlightened times both men and ladies are very welcome. Why not chat with
David McGregor to learn more? On the day we are very pleased to have supporters who help with the free parking, gates and duck-race.
The good news has to have a little bad. Both Harry Redknapp and the Battle of Britain fly past team are unavailable, but Chitty-Chitty will be there along with many favourites and some new additions to the mix. How about the “Dog & Duck”?
We’ve held the entry at £7 again to attract more of you to come along – all we need is a dry day and YOU!! 2024 was a record year for us with in excess of £19,000 going to local good causes and International Rotary projects. We can’t hope to achieve that again - - or can we? Yes, but only with your support. Hope you can make it.
Best Regards, “Rusty” Vern, Chairman.

Hello!
My name is Roger Sweet. I have been a member of the Verwood Rotary Club since 2016. This will be my second term as President of the Club. My first term as President was 2020-21, during the Covid pandemic which meant no face to face meetings, no social or charity events - all meetings were done on Zoom - which was very disappointing. Unfortunately, this also meant there was no Rustic Fayre! This time around I will be looking forward to welcoming you all to the 2025 Rustic Fayre. The Rustic Fayre is Verwood Rotary Club’s big event of the year, there will be a variety of stalls including food and refreshment stalls, arena events, side shows, beer tent and live music just to mention a few things.
My initial interest in Rotary was stirred after attending the Rustic Fayre at Potterne Park in Verwood. I enjoyed the Fayre and was pleased to learn that the proceeds would be reinvested in the local community, local charities and other good causes throughout the year. My chosen charity for the year is “Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance”.
My aims this year are to continue growing Rotary
and the Rotary Club of Verwood, and to continue to promote and support the community and local charities through proceeds from events like the Rotary Rustic Fayre and the Swing Dance. I am also pleased to say that the Race Night, which was a new venture for the club last year, was a big success and we hope to continue such events in the future. Although I have not personally planned any new ventures for the club I would welcome any ideas for supporting the community and letting them know that Rotary are here to help.
Currently the Rotary Club of Verwood meet twice a month, on the 1st Tuesday of the month at Verwood Hub, and the 3rd Tuesday at Drusilla’s Inn – come and see for yourself.

The cost of putting on the Rustic Fayre increases year by year; both financially and physically! The Rotary Club is really grateful for the support and assistance it receives from many quarters, and in many ways. Our sincere thanks to all, too numerous to name individually, but including:
