Once more into the breach, Dear Rustics I find it hard to believe that twelve months have flown by, and that it’s time to extend a warm welcome to another Rotary Rustic Fayre, our Club’s 28th. Following the enforced year out, 2021 saw record crowds come along at very short notice, and raise close to £11,000 which was distributed to various good causes local to the area. This year the Rotary Club of Verwood is keen to go one better - - but it has to be with your support. In this the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year it’s appropriate the event will be declared open by royalty, Verwood’s Carnival Queen and her Princesses will again be doing the honours. Many of our regulars will be there, beefed up by Falconry displays by “Liberty Raptors” from Ringwood. Look out for Classic Vehicles, Concert Brass, Food options, and of course the “Rotary Arms”. Rustic is always dog (on-lead) friendly, evidenced by the Dog Agility display, Terrier Racing & a fun Dog Show run by Lynwood Vets. And that’s not all, there could be a couple of surprise visitors. And keep
looking skywards for a promised fly-past by one of the “Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s” classic aircraft. There’s something for everyone and all on your door-step. This is my opportunity to give a huge THANK-YOU to All who support the Rustic, in whatever manner; Stall Holders, exhibitors, caterers, entertainers - - the list goes on. For publicity “Viewpoint” Magazine, who kindly produce this programme, Verwood’s own “ForestFM”, and then there’s our Sponsors. But most of all, YOU the public, We couldn’t do it without you! So stroll on down to Potterne Park for Verwood’s favourite day-out, meet old friends, and make new ones. We look to the future, but be assured that the Fayre will remain fundamentally “Rustic” because that’s the way people seem to like it, and with you there 2022 will be the best to date.

Foreword by the President Clive Grove
Well, I must say that it is an honour once again to be introducing this year’s Rotary Rustic Fayre. Each year, the Fayre allows us, The Rotary Club of Verwood, to contribute to many local charities and community organisations in and around Verwood. These contributions can make a world of difference to their operating budgets and makes the Rustic Fayre so important to them. Also, it allows many of them to have a stall and ‘showcase’ their cause and raise much needed funds. We are all experiencing difficult times and so I am pleased that the entrance fee has remained the same at £5 per adult with children being admitted free
of charge. Parking of cars is also free once again. In anticipation, I would like to say thank you to all our supporters for making this important Verwood event a success. My special thanks go to ‘Rusty’ Vern who leads the Fayre organising committee for their hard work and also to our volunteers, sponsors and the many people ‘conscripted’ in to help.

The Rotary Club Of Verwood Verwood Rotary Club was formed in 1988, and is a small friendly club, part of Rotary International which is arguably the largest service organisation in the World. It’s part of a “Brotherhood (& of course Sisterhood)” of over 1.2 million members operating in 168 countries worldwide. We meet at Crane Valley Golf Club on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of each month, for a meal, conversation and fellowship. Should there be five Tuesdays in a month we arrange to take our 10 | Rustic fayre 2022
partners out for a social evening at a local restaurant or hostelry. Our motto is “Service above Self”, and events and funds are raised throughout the year in support of charities and good causes, both locally and throughout the world.

Verwood Concert Brass Verwood Concert Brass was founded 1864. We are proud to boast three thriving bands: our Principal Band Verwood Concert Brass, Verwood Town Band and Verwood Community Band.
