It’s that time of the year again when I am delighted to be able to invite you all to Rotary’s “Silver Rustic Fayre”, the Club’s twenty-fifth.

A

s ever there is much déjà-vu in the air, but that’s what people seem to like about the event.

Even the field entry is held again this year at just £5.00, and of course all profits go to Rotary and local good causes. Verwood’s own Carnival Queen will be opening the Fayre at highnoon again; this tradition was introduced following 2008’s wet Whitsun, and has continued ever since; it’s good to have some royal involvement! Alongside all the regular favourites, “Dorset Windows” are sponsoring a Duck Race, when local organisations will paddling for supremacy on the River Crane.

There’ll be the usual Food & Drink options, enhanced by the Town’s Twiners, and a Pimms Stall operated by the Crew from “Irving’s” Estate Agents.

We have plenty going on for the children too, Circus Whiz, Monster Bounce, Punch&Judy, Egg Catching; as well as the usual pet items, Terrier Racing? and

an equine act “Big & Little”. This year “Lynwood Vets Practice” has kindly taken on the “Fun” Pet Show, so bring along your Furry Friends to be judged. One of our centre pieces is the marvellous display of Classic Cars, Motor Cycles, Tractors and other vehicles, over 200 entries in all - - not to be missed.

As Bank Holiday roads are busier than ever there seems little point in going further afield; and if you are local, why not leave the car at home, and stroll on down to Potterne Park, there to enjoy yesterday’s ambience in the company of friends old & new. I keep hearing mention of a credit crunch, but you can forget that for a day.

We don’t give credit - - - strictly cash!! But I must give credit where it’s due, and that goes to ALL our helpers - - Sponsors, Clubs, and friends who have worked so hard to put the “Rustic” on, we couldn’t do it without you. And then, most important of all, YOU who support us, simply by coming along and enjoying the day.

World Championships REPORT SL TKD student comes so close to scooping a medal at The TaeKwon Do International World Championships.

Ben Coe who has trained at Stephen Lamberth's Schools of Tae Kwon Do for nearly 4 years now competed in the championship.

The standard was etreemly high as you can imagine in a World Championships. Ben competed in the sparring or the fighting side of Tae Kwon Do and was beaten by a Republic of Ireland fighter.

The match was close but Ben was second best on this occasion. His set movements or pattern routine was his best accomplishment over the weekend; he came 4th position out of around 45 competitors in his division.

Ben said " It was a proud moment for me to fight and do my pattern at the World Championships; I will return

and hopefully medal or even win next time. I have to put more work and practise in and listen to my Instructors advice. I have trophiesand medals from UK competitions; would of love one from the World Championships but never mind; there is always next time."

Club Instructor said " Ben did himself proud and on the day was not quite strong enough to medal; but what a fantastic effort not only to come 4th but to get to a stage where he could compete with the worlds best is an achievment. I am very proud of all my students and Ben is no exception, although a little dissappointed for Ben as he deserved a medal in my view, I am going to be biased because he

is my student. Still never the less, very proud. Well done Ben."
