Building a new workforce for understaffed construction sector

Construction and building maintenance companies with staff shortages are being urged to utilise a trained workforce of previously unemployed people.

Employability and skills provider BCHA has partnered with First4Training to upskill unemployed people over 16 with a comprehensive foundation level training package, including asbestos awareness, manual handling, workplace health & safety and working at heights.

The training is part of BCHA’s The Way Forward programme, which was set up to offer support, coaching and skills to people impacted financially by the pandemic.

BCHA’s Val Jefferies said: “We would like to hear from construction businesses in the BCP area looking to interview siteready ground workers, labourers, and builders’ mates.

“We can provide motivated, trained, candidates free of charge, with zero recruitment costs.” www.bcha.org.uk
