Spring Sports Recap

TRACK & FIELD

Magnificat Track & Field scored a team total of 72 points to finish in 4th place in the OHSAA Division I District Meet at Steele High School in Amherst. The team qualified 10 athletes to the OHSAA Division I Regional Meet at Findlay High School:

Shot Put | Megan White ’23 100 Meter Run & 200 Meter Run | Gracie

Palamara ’22

4 x 100 Relay | Gracie Palamara ’22, Tess Haney ’22, Caitlin Martin ’24, Becky Butler ’23 4 x 400 Relay | Brooklyn Ramos-Kelly ’24, Kate Adler ’23, Mariella Mayer ’24, Charlotte Harter ’24 Bochenek and Miller tied for ninth in the high jump at the OHSAA Division I State Meet held at The Ohio State University. Bochenek finished her career with a personal best of 5'3", while Miller ended her sophomore season improving her best jump by nearly a foot as she recorded her personal best of 5'5". Both of these jumps were recorded at the OHSAA Division I Regional Meet.

LACROSSE

Magnificat Lacrosse opened up their playoff season with a 7-5 win on the road over Avon Lake. The Blue Streaks got two goals each from Sarah Rogozinski ’22 and Molly Patterson ’23, while Lilly Raffin ’22, Kylie Coughlin ’23 and Kristina Fedorova ’24 added a goal apiece. Haley Dunn ’23 was exceptional in goal for Magnificat. The team fell to Hudson High School in the OHSAA Division I Regional Quarterfinal and completed the season with an overall record of 7-11.

SOFTBALL

The varsity softball team fell to Firestone 3-2 in the OHSAA Division I Sectional Championship. Danielle Kincaid ’22 had two hits and struck out three Falcons to lead the Blue Streaks. The young team finished with an 8-10 record overall.

CLASS OF 2022

Three student-athletes from the Class of 2022 signed letters of commitment in May to continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level: Volleyball | Allie Gunn ’22, University of Mount Union Swimming | Taylor Stockard ’22, College of William & Mary Rowing | Genevieve Turner ’22, The Ohio State University This brought the total number of student-athletes from the Class of 2022 invited to compete at the collegiate level to nine. Congratulations!
