An MPT (Magnetic Particle Testing) inspection machine is a key device for non-destructive testing (NDT) and it serves to spot surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic substances like iron and steel.
The procedure is simple: first, the part is magnetized, using either direct electric current or an external magnetic field. Afterwards, iron powders are applied either in dry form or suspended in liquid.
If there is a flaw such as a fissure or an inclusion, it will cause the magnetic field to break, resulting in a flux leakage. This leakage will, in turn, attract and retain the particles, thus producing a visible representation of the flaw right on the surface. To achieve the ultimate detection level, fluorescent particles are utilized and the inspection is done under ultraviolet (UV-A) light.
The machines could vary from portable models for on-site usage to automated bench systems for assembly lines.
The mpt, indispensable in the aerospace, automotive, and energy industries, offers a fast, reliable, a
