The Temporary Permanent Shelter

The Emergency Housing Prototype

Archistorming & TECHNO | June 2019

THE BRIEF: Redesign the current emergency housing model made by TECHNO.

THE HOPE: By re-purposing the existing materials and techniques, we achieved a more durable and adaptable architectural solution that ultimately helps give form and permanence to the lives of those inhabiting it.

THE STEPS: Move to a spacious square-based arrangement - while retaining the limits of the current cladding modules and woodframe construction. In order to optimize the use of space and resources, an over-lapping of different uses is implemented: the living and sleeping combined with the use of an additional kitchen or bathroom module. Lastly a permanent division of daytime living and night-time sleeping spaces is organized vertically through the addition of a mezzanine level used exclusively for rest and/or storage.
