and reputation of DBJ proved too good an opportunity to pass up. How do you ensure clients are happy with the products and the service? We are very focussed on innovation and improvement. We are seeking better communication and improved efficiencies right across our platform with the aim of making the client experience better from start to finish. Our new and improved lean manufacturing processes are driving the innovation, along with taking advantage of new technology. Strong and open communication takes care of the happy part and service through an improved, motivated and educated workforce. Your background is in the banking industry, how has this informed the way DBJ is run? Banking is a highly competitive business and all companies are always searching for a competitive edge. My experience in banking was clients are willing to pay for quality, service, honesty and integrity. That’s what I am trying to bring to the table for DBJ - always willing to go that extra mile.

In banking, a high standard must always be met. Do you find a similar experience with DBJ? At our end of the market, it is exactly what we are trying to achieve. We have instigated a lean manufacturing program which has been instrumental in cutting down time wastage, increasing quality, reducing errors and increasing our ability to price competitively and meet our deadlines. All targeting a better experience for our clients. What are some of your favourite projects DBJ have worked on? Our favorite projects are usually the ones we are the most sworn to secrecy! For me the best is where the client/ designer/architect/builder are all working together and collaborating to get the best and most innovative product at the best price point. For me that’s the key - everyone on the same page and working to that goal yields work that is enjoyable and invariably the best finished and highest quality work.
