SCOTTISH Scottish Special SPECIAL Summer 2019 – MAF Scotland news and events

AUTUMN 2019

Hello and thank you

Come on and celebrate!

By the time you read this, I will have been in my role for a few months and become more familiar with the many different strands that make up the MAF world – in particular, MAF Scotland. A challenging few months full of steep learning curves have been made easier thanks to the love and support you’ve extended to me through your prayers and emails. I thank everyone who took the time to write – your warm welcome and kind words have touched and encouraged me immensely. I’ve already had the pleasure of working with some of our faithful volunteers and supporters, and I see how passionate you are. I hope to meet more of you soon. This is such an exciting time to be part of MAF and a real privilege to be leading the Scotland team. Looking ahead to 2020, we can reflect on a remarkable 75 years, celebrate what God has done through the power of flight and plan what we want to achieve over the coming years. Together for the Kingdom. Heather Malloch Head of MAF in Scotland

This year, many events took place to commemorate the ‘D-Day landings’ — a military operation that was crucial in ending World War II. Thereafter, it took a tremendous effort by millions of people to bring peace again to the western world. One of MAF’s founders, Stuart King, was part of that mass military force whose courage brought peace and joy to countless men, women and children throughout the world. During the war, a few Christian airmen prayed regularly and consistently to the Lord for a way in which aircraft could be used to save lives and communities rather than destroy them. Within

weeks of the war ending, MAF was born. In 2020, MAF will celebrate 75 years of a vision to serve the isolated, the hungry, the impoverished and those living in spiritual darkness. To mark our anniversary, I want to offer an MAF speaker to every church, group and gathering throughout Scotland. I ask you to come together with us and celebrate 75 years of God’s great provision for MAF and the faithful, sacrificial service of those early MAF pioneers.
