SEPTEMBER 1-5 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1

VAUGHAN & ROSEMARY WOODWARD

WOODWARD, Vaughan & Rosemary. Interim Regional Director (Asia-Pacific) & HR Advisor, Cairns.

Please pray for Vaughan with the expectation of a lot more travel in the coming months. Please pray for people to respond to the Lord’s call as MAF seeks to fill many vacancies in senior roles. We give thanks that Ryan is settling well into his new life in Toowoomba.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 INGHAM, Bridget. Pilot, PNG. It has been a hectic few months of flying in PNG as many of our pilots have been on home assignment or have left the field permanently. We now have a few more hands on deck, so I am taking a two-week holiday in Queensland with a friend! Pray for safe travels, fun times, and that I can return to PNG refreshed and ready to get stuck in again.

Ted, a previous MAF NZ General Manager, has serious health challenges currently. “As a family we are surprised to find ourselves on this pathway, but we know without doubt that God our Creator, the Lord Jesus, our Saviour and the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, are walking with us each step of the way.”

Please pray for the Hitchins Family as they prepare to leave Timor-Leste at the end of October and relocate to Cairns to continue serving with MAF in the Cairns Support Office.

Pray especially for Nick as he makes a visit to Christchurch in September to sell their house – for success and favour.

This month we are spending our last couple of weeks in New Zealand before heading to Switzerland to meet Pascal’s friends, family and supporters. We have had a great time in NZ and have enjoyed catching up with supporters and sharing about what we have been doing.

Please thank God for this time of encouragement and that we have could share about the work we are doing.

SATURDAY, SEP 7 VAN DER MERWE, Cobus & Tronel; Isak, Jana, and Karlien. Building & Maintenance Deputy Manager, PNG. The maintenance work that Cobus is helping with, is full on. Please pray for wisdom, strength and good relationships with the local suppliers and work mates.

Pray for our health as some of us are still struggling with tummy issues.

SUNDAY, SEP 8 MAF NEW ZEALAND. On September 27th we will be hosting our Co-Pilot Launch party at the Hangar to officially get the Co-Pilot program off the ground. We are hoping for a minimum of 30 attendants and for 15 of those to sign up in a meaningful way to CoPilot. Please pray for the high school youth God is calling.

TUESDAY, SEP 10 MAF NEW ZEALAND. Please pray for the recruitment of a new Marketing and Comms Manager as Zoe will be leaving soon for overseas travel. Please pray for wisdom and insight in filling this position.

WEDNESDAY, SEP 11 MAF INTERNATIONAL. Give thanks for a successful flight of PNG’s oldest Cessna Caravan to Arnhem Land. It is being retired from the fleet this month. Please pray for a successful sale.

THURSDAY, SEP 12 ORCHARD, Karl & Helene; Ayla and Thea. Senior Systems Administrator (IT), PNG. Pray for the family as they spend 2 weeks in Cairns in transition to PNG. Pray for peace and a real grace from God in all the change. Pray as they meet various MAF staff that they will establish great relationships and find friends quickly.

SATURDAY, SEP 14 McINTOSH, Colin & Rosemary.

MAFI Maintenance Support Specialist–Turbine Aircraft, NZ based.

As part of the MAF International fleet renewal plan, the first of 3 new Cessna Caravan aircraft destined for the MAF Papua New Guinea programme is currently in Mareeba, undergoing final modifications and preparation for service in PNG. This aircraft will replace the first Caravan aircraft that began service with MAF-PNG in 2008.

Pray this aircraft will be a blessing to everyone who flies in it.

SUNDAY, SEP 15 MAF INTERNATIONAL. Many MAF rescue flights are unexpected and unplanned.

Some are the result of accident, illness or domestic violence, with MAF pilots in Arnhem Land regularly receiving calls for all three.

Please pray for God’s protection during our flights for Miyalk women’s shelter – praising Him that, thanks to MAF, women and children in Arnhem Land are able to reach safety quickly.

FOX, Mark & Philippa. CEO MAF NZ. Pray for Mark as he and Ian McBride travel to the annual MAF Global Forum in the UK on Sept 16-23. This will be a critical meeting as MAF is looking at ways to function as one global organisation, to enhance our global reach and effectiveness. Please pray for wisdom, clear guidance from the Lord and a oneness of spirit so to be able to work more closely together.

Maintenance Controller, PNG. Sylas Rank, one of our apprentice aircraft engineers, has been experiencing severe illness related to TB. Maro, our Avionics Engineer, has been in recovery following a back operation. Arjan, our Flight Operations Manager, has been grounded on health matters. They are all key members in our team. Please pray for healing and recovery and health for the rest of the team.

Please continue to pray for MAF as they find someone to replace me at Mareeba when I finish in April next year.

TUESDAY, SEP 17 MACDONALD, Andrew. Pilot, South Sudan.

Please pray for South Sudan as the inaugural election approaches in December.

There is a lot of uncertainty around the election as there is concern it could lead to period of unrest. Pray for peace and safety of all here.

WEDNESDAY, SEP 18 POUND, Jonathan & Michele; Abby, Daniel, Joseph, and Benjamin. Pilot, South Sudan.

Praise the Lord for He is in control, and He always has the best plan. Jono has spent some time on the ground waiting for some paperwork to be approved by KCAA. Praise the Lord that this approval has come and that he can now resume his flying duties. Also please pray for wisdom and guidance as he begins his new role – as Chief Pilot of MAF Kenya and South Sudan.

Maintenance Operations Supervisor, PNG. Benji will be busy handing over and training up his replacement (his good colleague, Jade).

Please pray for both Benji and Jess as Benji’s work load has been very full with his boss being away on extended leave.

SUNDAY, SEP 22 MAF INTERNATIONAL. Please continue to pray for the recruitment of Country Directors, particularly for PNG, Timor-Leste and Liberia.

Aircraft Engineer & Member Care, Mareeba.

Grant continues with his 2 days a week in the Mareeba hangar assisting the engineering team. Please also pray for the work of the Red Sea Counselling Centre that both Sharon and Grant are involved with on a part time basis.

WEDNESDAY, SEP 25 MAF INTERNATIONAL. Please pray for the recruitment of a Regional Director for the Asia-Pacific region.

THURSDAY, SEP 26 VINCENT, Fiona. Finance Manager, Asia-Pacific Region, (NZ based).

Please pray for the Finance Team as we work with Managers to balance the 2025 budget in preparation of the presentation to the Board. May the Lord direct and unite the members of the Leadership Teams in their decisions about next year’s operations. May we be wise stewards of the resources the Lord has provided.

SEPTEMBER 27OCTOBER 2 FRIDAY, SEP 27 MAF NEW ZEALAND. The youth program of MAF, called Co-Pilot, is launching tonight in the MAF hangar in Tauranga. Please pray for those attending to hear God’s call to missions, and for an ongoing commitment to work towards fulfilling the call.

SATURDAY, SEP 28 MILES, Doug & Yvonne. Interim Country Director, PNG. (Retired) We would appreciate prayer for us as we have completed our 34yrs of service to MAF on the 31st of August. There is much to praise God for during those years, especially His faithfulness and presence.

Please pray as we adjust to retirement, that we can still continue to serve Him.

SUNDAY, SEP 29 MAF INTERNATIONAL. Please pray for Finance Managers for Arnhem Land and PNG. We also need an HR Manager for the Asia Pacific Region who will be based in Cairns, who will be managing a diverse team across Australia, PNG, Timor-Leste and Myanmar.

MONDAY, SEP 30 MAF INTERNATIONAL. We need more pilots in PNG, South Sudan and Liberia. Please pray for more experienced pilots to apply to work and serve for MAF.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1 INGHAM, Bridget. Pilot, PNG. Over the last six months, I have noticed a big improvement in my stress levels, since being authorised to fly under IFR (instrument flight rules) in PNG. Give thanks for the increased mental and emotional capacity this is giving me. Pray that I can be a blessing to others.

Pascal is working remotely, and I am studying part-time.

Please pray that Pascal would be effective in his job despite the distance from PNG, and that I would be able to recall what I have learnt in my upcoming exams.

MAFI Maintenance Support Specialist–Turbine Aircraft, NZ based.

The MAF Madagascar programme are looking forward to their Cessna Caravan being upgraded with a new aircraft. This aircraft will have a more powerful engine enabling it to carry more passengers than their current aircraft. This means that the MAF Madagascar programme will have capacity to provide more help, hope & healing to people it serves.

Praise the Lord for His mercies, great and small! We are quickly heading toward the first ever election in South Sudan (in December), there are murmurs of trouble bubbling beneath the surface, and many missionary families (from other organizations) are electing to leave until after the election process is complete.

Please pray for wisdom for MAF SSD in decision making, and for safety for the team throughout this time.

VAN DER MERWE, Cobus & Tronel; Isak, Jana, and Karlien. Building & Maintenance Deputy Manager, PNG. Tronel will be helping a child with his Maths, and Jana and Karlien are helping with art classes for the 7-9 yr old kids at a Christian school. Pray for inspiration and wisdom.

Pray for Cobus that he will cope well with the workload and get the maintenance done to a good standard.

They feel privileged to have held the pastoral care role but will be handing it over to younger people after this. We thank them for their faithful service.

SATURDAY, OCT 12 MAF INTERNATIONAL. Praise God for the collaboration between Mercy Ships and MAF in Madagascar which enables isolated communities to access surgical care. Pray for a continued, successful partnership.

Thank God for the work of the Rural Airstrip Agency as they help communities to develop, restore and maintain airstrips. Pray for wisdom for RAA’s leaders, that they may guide the organisation in accordance with God’s plan into the future.

Pray especially for all the vacancies to be filled in Juba, South Sudan and the various schools in PNG.

Prayer for the work of the ‘Peace & Reconciliation’ teams as they continue to be in high demand by many communities around the country. Pray for their effort and work to be effective, and to be influential in the lives of those they are working with.

THURSDAY, OCT 17 VINCENT, Fiona. Finance Manager, Asia-Pacific Region, (NZ based).

Give thanks for the “Flying is for Everyone” community engagement events that MAF Timor-Leste organised in July. Please pray for the people who participated in the gatherings. They heard the gospel of Jesus Christ.

May many know the hope of salvation so freely offered by our gracious and loving God. And may our partnerships with the communities outside Dili be strengthened.

FRIDAY, OCT 18 MAF INTERNATIONAL. A group of local “missionaries” are reaching out to the village of Minim in the Hewa region of PNG. This village is very remote and has not yet previously been evangelised.

The group will be teaching literacy and teaching them to read the Bible for themselves.

These missionaries have been sent out by a church plant of the New Tribes Mission. Pray that God will pour out His Holy Spirit.

Maintenance Operations Supervisor, PNG. Please pray for them as they slowly come to the end of their time in PNG. They plan to return to NZ in January.

TUESDAY, OCT 22 MAF NEW ZEALAND. We have a young person studying to be an aircraft technician at NMIT in Blenheim. She is doing her 250hr practicum in Mareeba from 14 Oct to 29 Nov. If the practicum goes well, she is hoping to do her 2 year apprenticeship with MAF in Mareeba.

MAF INTERNATIONAL. The children of our workers on the field, often find it very lonely, as many are homeschooled and do not have friends their age close by. Please pray for God’s provision for them and for God’s comfort and Presence to watch over them.

Pray for our chaplaincy team in Timor. They care for the patients who have been medevacked by offering food, Bibles, phone credit, hygiene products, clothing etc. They give a listening ear and advocate for the patients.

Pray for wisdom and grace, to be able to show God’s love in their time of need.

Please pray for wisdom and favour as she contacts potential donors and works to strengthen relationships with current and past supporters.
