INDONESIA KODIAK CAMPAIGN

$3.5 Million Fleet Optimization Effort in Papua & Kalimantan Imagine living in a remote village in the middle of the oldest rain forest in the world. No roads. Difficult terrain to cross even on foot due to the vast number of rivers that divide the land. Your only access to resources and help from the outside world is by a high-frequency radio and the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) pilot who lands in a river near your village. He brings food, medicines, and supplies. In Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, this is the reality for more than a hundred Kalimantan villages.

Papua

Kalimantan In the mid-1990s, MAF opened a floatplane base in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, to serve Wycliffe Bible translators and a medical clinic operated by two German nurses. Today, MAF continues to minister to these groups while also enabling Indonesian missionaries to plant sustainable churches in interior villages. Because of frequent MAF flights to remote Central Kalimantan villages, more Indonesian church leaders are expressing interest in launching evangelism efforts

in areas where past attempts to plant churches failed. The interior villages are extremely isolated, and Christian families face persecution often.

Kalimantan’s Aging Fleet In order to continue to show God’s

love to the most remote families in Kalimantan, MAF needs to upgrade its aging fleet. MAF’s two Cessna 185

floatplanes in Palangkaraya, Kalimantan, are 51 and 44 years old and use aviation gasoline (avgas), which is very scarce and expensive in the region ($13 per gallon). Quest Aircraft Company’s KODIAK is the ideal bush airplane to serve remote people groups in Kalimantan. It runs on less expensive and abundant jet fuel and has more than twice the cargo capacity of the C185 aircraft.
