FUTURE GENERATIONS Campaign New Ministries & Initiatives Fund $3,000,000 Seize the opportunities ‌ ACCELERATE the possibilities
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. —Isaiah 43:19
Positioned to Act and Surge Forw Where We’ve Been For over 70 years, MAF has effectively used aviation, technology, and related training to help bring the good news of Jesus Christ to remote regions of the world such as Papua and Mozambique. But there are still many isolated communities and villages that need to experience the love of Jesus. This is why, from the beginning, MAF has been committed to remaining relevant and accessible to future generations of unengaged and unreached people wherever it is feasible for our unique talents and tools to be useful in extending the Kingdom.
Where We Are The mission of MAF has not changed. But the opportunities are always evolving. Today, tremendous pressures exist globally in the world of mission aviation due to increased government regulations, hostile attitudes toward western Christians, difficulty
in getting visas, and the growing complexities of aviation operations. These pressures are actually forcing MAF to think differently and more creatively about how to utilize the talents of its men and women in aviation and technology to be a light for the Gospel.
Where We’re Going When opportunities present themselves to research, develop, and test new ministry thrusts or programs, MAF wants to be in a position to accelerate its ability to act. This only can happen if investment funds exist and can be accessed without an extended period of fundraising. In recent years, MAF has moved ahead by faith to explore several fortuitous ministry opportunities. Because no prior funds were set aside specifically for these purposes, we have had to scramble to gather the resources. This has put great pressure on the MAF budget and, in some cases, slowed down the process when time was of the essence.

ward In spite of these challenges, some promising new ministries may be coming into focus: • MAF has been researching and developing a new aviation flight program in a Central Asian country that is politically and spiritually oppressive. • MAF has started an aviation training school in a spiritually-closed, communist country and is considering replicating this new ministry model in countries where a traditional flight program is not feasible. • MAF is laying the groundwork for a long-term program in Nepal after a successful disaster response effort that is making a huge difference for like-minded NGOs serving people living in remote mountain regions. Besides these potential avenues for ministry in the field, shifting circumstances in worldwide aviation and mission culture sometimes create a critical need for MAF’s administrative offices in Nampa, Idaho, to develop new programs and approaches. Most recently ... • MAF has embarked on a massive software development project that will replace many individual, antiquated software systems critical to flight operations (such as maintenance records, parts inventory, and flight scheduling) and provide an integrated solution. • MAF has started a corporate training department with sights set on developing a new management trainee program to cultivate emerging leaders as we face a high volume of staff retirements in the next five years. These are just a few current examples, but we anticipate that many more will arise in the coming years. Not every opportunity that presents itself will materialize. Mission aviation is complex! But, having a New Ministries & Initiatives Fund will enable us to quickly become entrepreneurial as we initiate the indispensable first steps of research and development.
