FUTURE GENERATIONS Campaign Campus Expansion Fund $6,000,000 Expand the campus … ACCELERATE the mission
Then they said, “Let us arise and build.” So they put their hands to the good work. —Nehemiah 2:18b
MORE THAN A CAMPUS MAF headquarters is much more than a campus.
Why expand now? The current campus is bursting at its seams and is being used far beyond its intended capacity. Housing is inadequate and overcrowded. Community gathering places adjacent to the housing are practically nonexistent. Children’s areas are unsafe and impractical. Maintenance and storage facilities are woefully underresourced. RV accommodations cannot handle the growing number of volunteers.
It’s a Catalyst to recruit, select, train, mentor, and send missionaries into some of the most remote regions of the world. It’s a Community where missionaries, volunteers, board members, and mission partners gain encouragement and vision to serve Christ’s Kingdom. It’s an administrative Core that keeps MAF programs around the globe spinning in sync with one another.
Three solutions Phase II will address these critical issues with three distinct types of spaces: Housing, Community, and Maintenance.
A campus with this much riding on it requires vigilant forward thinking. This brings us to Phase II of the MAF campus build-out.
The following pages lay out the purpose and benefits of each. As you look them over, perhaps you will catch a vision of an improved, vibrant campus brimming with life-giving ministry for generations to come. Maybe you’ll even choose to help make the vision a reality.
A little perspective In 2006, MAF moved its campus from Redlands, California, to Nampa, Idaho. At that time a master plan was created that entailed three phases of build-out. The end goal was to create a robust, fully functioning service center and sending hub. With the 2013 debt retirement of Phase I and the recent availability and purchase of several adjacent lots, the door for Phase II has been thrown wide open.
“Providing missionary families the space they need to foster a sense of
community is essential for our staff to grow and thrive as they prepare to move their families across the world. —John C. Boyd, MAF President and CEO

A Sacred Trust Financial gifts to MAF are a sacred trust. We utilize funds wisely and prayerfully, recognizing that factors such as fluctuating costs and funding received may cause a shift in campus expansion priorities.
THE KLYNSTRAS’ EXPERIENCE
At the same time, Chris and Debbie acknowledge that campus housing could be improved to better accommodate their needs.
During one visit, overcrowded facilities forced them to stay at a local hotel, adding a layer of stress and hampering their ability to connect with other staff. Another time, three weeks of zero-degree weather made them long for a warm gathering place for fellowship and recreation. With limited play areas, their kids often have played in the parking lot after work hours. But during the day, It’s just plain dangerous.
The Klynstras and their two children have stayed on campus several times: one month during candidacy, two months during orientation, and several days during their first mini furlough from Indonesia.
Though the Klynstras are grateful, they look forward to the day when there will be a better environment on campus for training, encouragement, and rest. Maybe by the time they return, there will be.
Chris and Debbie Klynstra can’t say enough about the hospitality they’ve received during their stays on campus. We could go on and on. To arrive straight from the field and walk into an apartment where things match, there’s fresh fruit, and it smells nice. We just feel cared for.
