I cannot imagine the Barber Violin Concerto more beautifully played than what we anticipate from James Ehnes. Mendelssohn takes us on a Scottish journey with his great third symphony and Strauss’ great tone poem will take us on a spiritual journey as well. Three major works on the same program! — JD
