ENTERTAINMENT GUIDE WAUPUN

Celebrate Waupun is a free, three-day community festival. It highlights the unique qualities of Waupun to its’ visitors and residents in order to promote the city as an excellent community for families and businesses. The festival brings a variety of activities for all ages, plus local and regional music, along with art, history, culture and the natural surroundings of Waupun providing an entertaining and educational atmosphere.

We at Waupun Festivals promote the city as an excellent community for families and businesses. We strive to provide a variety of activities for all ages by exploring the local and regional music and arts, history, culture and natural surroundings of Waupun in an entertaining and educational atmosphere.

Pier Pups Dog Jumping

Pier Pups is a unique Dock Diving venue that features novice jumpers all the way to pro jumpers, with an emphasis on the “family dog”. Pier Pups was founded in 2007 as one of the many canine sporting events offered at the yearly Wisconsin K9 Sport Show.

The Pier Pups staff is patient and experienced with novice dogs and will take the time to make sure each dog is comfortable with the pool and the dock. They have 4 skill divisions to ensure that each dog is competing with dogs with similar experience. These divisions also help small dogs compete on a more level playing field.

Waupun has one of the highest concentrations of public art per capita in the United States, thanks to Clarence Shaler. Hop on the The City of Sculpture Trolley tour and experience the eight beautiful sculptures placed within the historic downtown and the surrounding area. The trolley loading location is the northeast corner of the Rock River Intermediate School Parking Lot. Please arrive 15 minutes beforehand to board the trolley –while seating lasts. Fireworks Show To Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday!

Waupun Family Aquatic Center

The Waupun Family Aquatic Center is a beautiful facility located at 701 County Park Road. It features a zero depth entry, two water slides, a kiddie slide, water spouts, fountains, lap pool, basketball hoops, and a diving board. A wide variety of food and beverages are available for sale in the concession stand. There is a shelter on the grounds of the aquatic center that can be rented for private use. The aquatic center is open seasonally and offers swim lessons, water aerobics, lap swim, swim team, open swim and more.

Marsh Haven Nature Center

The seasons of spring, summer, and fall all offer unique opportunities to visit Marsh Haven Nature Center, located on the north end of the famous Horicon Marsh. This non-profit, volunteer-supported nature center is located just three miles east of Waupun on Highway 49. Visitors often see numerous bird species, including a well-established Purple Martin colony. Wildlife may be seen while wandering through the woodland, prairie, or wetland trails on our 46-acres. Marsh Haven Nature Center also offers a bunkhouse and camping area for overnight group stays, a picnic shelter and campfire area, observation tower, a classroom, and indoor theater for presentations.

Museum displays and exhibits teach the history and wildlife of the Horicon Marsh area. Displays include Glacier, Native American, Pioneer, Bird Gallery, Wetland, and Woodland. The Nature Nook Children’s Area offers young visitors a hands-on area to learn and explore. Crawl in the wolf den or visit with our animals in the Critter Corner. Our traveling animal ambassador program shares a message of respect, concern, and education for all animals, including our local wildlife. In addition, there is an art gallery with a diverse collection of displays and photography.

Wildlife feeding stations are located on either side of the gift shop and visitors often see a variety of birds up close. Marsh Haven has a large Purple Martin colony and over 40 additional nest boxes for tree swallows, bluebirds, chickadees, and wrens.

Nature education and enjoyment is a focus at Marsh Haven Nature Center and there is a wide variety of nature education programs and opportunities for visitors of all ages. Whether it is a bird of prey program, a guided hike, or our monthly Storytime with a Critter, there are a variety of ways to experience Marsh Haven Nature Center. Contact our director to discuss educational opportunities or programs either at your facility or on a visit to Marsh Haven Nature Center.

Marsh Haven Nature Center hosts several events throughout the year starting with Winter at Marsh Haven in February, Earth Day in late April, Horicon Marsh Bird Festival over Mother’s Day weekend, Fall Living History in September, Hops at Marsh Haven in October, and Christmas at Marsh Haven in December. Horicon Marsh Bird Festival

Horicon Marsh Bird Club invites birders of all skill levels – as well as anyone who enjoys the great outdoors – to the 29th Annual Horicon Marsh Bird Festival, May 8-10, 2026. This weekend-long event provides family-friendly activities and educational experiences designed to showcase Horicon Marsh’s role as an important habitat for birds and wildlife.

Highlights of this year’s Bird Festival include a NEW trip highlighting the Rock River basin, night sounds, waterfowl ID, LIVE birds of prey, smaller more intimate guided tours, and so much more!

This vast wetland is both a State Wildlife Area and a National Wildlife Refuge. Horicon Marsh has been designated as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention and a Global Important Bird Area by the American Bird Conservancy. No group of wildlife better represents the vitality of this marsh better than its birds. Over the years, a total of 304 species of birds have been sighted on this marsh.

The “DEL RAY’S” are a four-piece band that have been performing together since the late 1970’s. They perform a variety of rock & roll from the 50’s, 60’s, and the 70’s. The “DEL RAY’S” have performed with national acts such as; Sha-Na-Na; the Crystals; Bobby Vee; Fabian; the Fireballs; Bill Hailey’s Comet’s; Chubby Checker; the Buckingham’s, Loving Spoonful, the Romantics, and others.

Strangers

The Cajun Strangers are an award-winning band from Madison, that plays traditional Cajun dance music, as you would hear down in Southwest Louisiana and East Texas. A Madison institution, they’ve been playing dances, festivals, events, and backyards for nearly 20 years.

Scotty Meyer Trio

Scotty also shines as a solo artist and as part of a trio, showcasing his talent across various musical settings. With a career marked by innovation and passion, Scotty Meyer continues to leave an indelible mark on the music scene.

Although it’s an ethnic festival, everyone is welcome. “Volksfest” loosely translates to a “festival for all people.” This FREE German Festival brings the traditional tastes of Munich to Waupun. Enjoy polka and live music from some of Wisconsin’s best polka bands, Oktoberfest beer and other German craft beer brewed locally along with German wine! There will be a Friday Fish Fry at 5pm and a Pancake Breakfast hosted by Kiwanis on Saturday from 8-10am. German attire is encouraged. Other activities include the Stumpffiddle, Hammerschlagen, and Stein contest. There will also be a car show at Tanner Park on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 7am - 4pm.

There will be boat tours of the marsh, bird hikes, presentations, bus trips, educational programs, and much more throughout the weekend. 25-27 Living History

The annual Fall Living History Festival welcomes re-enactors and artisans who will share their role in history and skills from the past. Tents and encampments will be set up for the weekend.

An evening filled with craft beer tastings while exploring the beauty of the Marsh Haven nature center and trails. Tickets include a commemorative 8 oz. glass mason jar to enjoy 3oz. samples from 4 local breweries. Once the sun goes down the trails will be lit with lanterns guiding walkers to their next station. A food truck will also be at the event.
