GOLD STAR MEMORIAL TRAIL
Phase one of the Gold Star Memorial Trail (GTMT) is a non-motorized trail can be used by the public year-round for running, walking, hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The 10-foot-wide 2.1-mile paved trail starts in Mayville’s Theiler Park off Hwy TW and is mainly located along Hwy 28 to the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitors Center.
The GSMT is dedicated to all Wisconsin military members who gave their lives for their country. The original concept of the trail was to be built in memory of two soldiers from Mayville, one from Horicon, and three from Beaver Dam..

The ultimate concept of the GSMT is to connect the City of Mayville to the City of Beaver Dam through additional phases of the project. Currently, the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center trails do not permit bike riding. However, walking a bike on the southern Bachhuber Trail through the Horicon Marsh will get bikers to Palmatory Point, which then connects to the City of Horicon GSMT route (phase 4). This route is marked with signs and goes from Palmatory Point on city streets to the west side of Horicon to Whitty Park, which will serve as the connection point for the next phase of the project from the City of Horicon to the City of Beaver Dam.
Trail Bikes can be rented at True Value Home and Hardware at 1020 Horicon St., Mayville.
