About the Keynote Sean Donovan (he/him/his) currently works with the City of Northampton as Implementation Director of the new Department of Community Care. In this role, he draws upon his past experiences as a peer advocate, group facilitator and trainer with the Wildflower Alliance and many stories of institutional trauma and practicing other possibilities as guides for developing a first responder team other than police and fire called Community Responses for Establishing Safety Together (CREST). Housed within public health but shifting what’s possible in public safety and 911-initiated calls, CREST will be trained in non-coercive dialogue-based support practices, community mediation and emergency medical responses. A couple antidotes to this challenging job as a mad-identified and sound-obsessed person are: solidarity support conversations and the punk band he shares with two amazing women, Feminine Aggression.

Jodi Girouard has been writing since she learned to hold a pencil. She spends time writing poetry for others to uplift spirits and bring more compassion to the world. She has written three books, and this latest one, Living with the Neighbors, came out late last year. It is her memoir of living with a severe mental illness and reaching out for help through faith, nature, and communities. Jodi serves on the Howard Center Board, and volunteers at NAMI and other organizations to reduce stigma attached to living with a mental illness. She wants the world to break down barriers so to lift up those that still hide from fear of stigma. She does this through sharing her story. Jodi is interested in conversations that foster compassion and further understanding. Jodi is a native Vermonter who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and English and has a blog, Jodigirouard.wordpress.com, that she writes weekly. Her book, Living with the Neighbors, will be available to purchase.
