n October 8, 2025 FLOWER Magazine revealed its greatest achievement to date with the grand opening gala of its showhouse at the legendary Belle Meade estate in Nashville.
FLOWER magazine founder and editor-in-chief, Margot Shaw, enlisted the talented Alexa Hampton as the Honorary Chair and Corey Damen Jenkins as the Design Chair. Renowned floral designer Ariella Chezar served as the showhouse Floral Chair.
After years of use as a venue for social and charitable functions as well as the location for the television show Nashville, the house was in need of revitalization. With a clear vision and determination, Pfeffer Torode, a southeastern architectural firm, transformed the 20,000 square foot house into a thoughtfully designed structure. Margot then personally invited 23 highly talented interior designers from around the country to bring their vision to each space in the home. The result was inspirational spaces that brimmed with elegance, imagination and sophistication. The beautiful grounds were professionally landscaped by Kaiser Trabue, one of Nashville’s top landscape architecture firms. Margot reached out to Kim Scodro, a Chicago-based interior

designer, with an invitation was extended for her exuberant approach to interior design. She is known for elegantly feminine maximalist interiors. Upon visiting the Belle Meade Estate, she was enamored with the beautiful grounds. Gazing from the windows of the guest suite overlooking the property, Kim was instantly inspired to create an interior that was an ode to the garden. “We wanted this suite to embrace the natural surroundings with an explosion of pattern, color and joy!” Her rendering sealed her vision for the guest suite.
Considering each element of the interior from wallpaper, lighting, fabrics, fixtures, and accessories to the furniture, Kim shares that “when we were honored with an invitation to participate in the FLOWER Showhouse, my first thought was of Hickory Chair. I reached out to the Hickory Chair team to see if they would collaborate on pieces for the space, and they happily agreed to help us create our dream guest suite.” Working with all the wonderful sponsors including Thibaut, Samuel & Sons, Currey & Company, Stark, Frances Valentine, D. Porthault, Anna French, Ann Sacks, Robern, Kallista, Pooky Lighting, Mulligan’s Furniture, Memoire Design, English Village Lane, Textures, Primo Interiors, Sun Valley Bronze, Madwind Studio and Hall’s Custom Cabinetry, the final result was truly the ‘explosion of pattern, color and joy’ I had envisioned. The incredible floral designs of Melanie Marshall of Floraison brought the interiors to life.

Kim shares, “We imagined intricate fabric applications and detailed trim placements for every piece, and not once did we hear, ‘We can’t do that.’ The talented seamstresses and upholsterers at Hickory Chair exceeded our expectations, delivering truly gorgeous results. Collaborating with the artists, we devised an elegant light gold stripe to punctuate the Isabella Nightstand. The crowning touch was the lovely hand-painted floral motif on the border of the Courtland Made To Measure Bench.”

The Bruce Ottoman is inspired by the playful concept of a layered cocktail ottoman—often imagined as stacked “cushion pancakes” upholstered in contrasting fabrics to create an iconic statement piece. Kim Scodro reinterpreted this idea with a refined sensibility, introducing solid maple feet that elevate the form and allow for custom finish options. The cushions are thoughtfully thickened to enhance structure and visual definition, ensuring each layer is clearly articulated when mixing fabrics. The result is a distinctive cocktail ottoman that balances whimsy with craftsmanship and tailored sophistication. Introduced at the April 2026 Market.
