HOUSE HUNTING An architectural children’s book Storytelling in Architecture Seminar Fall 2022

SCALED CONNECTIONS Office Building Los Angeles, California Spring 2022 The project is an office and retail building in downtown Los Angeles. This building is situated in the site with the intention of having two sides with different characters. On the side of Hill Street, the building is a large six story structure and at the scale of the context across the street. The opposite side of the building stands only three stories above grade and is scaled to the context of the outdoor plaza and entryway. A large curved stairwell connects the two entryways at the fourth and first floor of the site from the public street to the private plaza. As for the other building faces, a gfrc panel grid system works to shade the interior spaces without blocking too much natural light by undulating to different depths in the vertical and horizontal direction. This system when viewed in elevation appears thin, but from an angle can be read as a heavy and densified surface condition. Aesthetically inspired by the pop art of Hiroshi Nagai, the stark white building stands out against the bright blue LA skies and lush green vegetation within the site
Exterior Perspective The primary view from the street is a large six story facade of GFRC panels that undulate to provide unique lighting conditions.
Longitudinal Section Perhaps the most influential problem for the design was the negotiation of a site with a 75 foot slope. The project mediates this with a large grand staircase.

REMIXING MAR VISTA Large Scale Housing Project Los Angeles, California Fall 2021 The project is a further continuation of the semester’s work on reimagining the Mar Vista Tract in Los Angeles, California. In this scenario, the density of the single Ain Unit is scaled up by Nine. The goal was to create an urban design proposal for 22 lots, and then build upon 12. The project faces a newly imagined urban transit line on the end of the neighborhood. Because of this, the front of the project is distinctively more commercial in style to greet the public front. The project then begins to step down to the neighborhood with of units within the originally cubic form to both allow light, fresh air, and public outdoor space for each resident. These were important as to maximize the quality of life for the senior residents of the building. Three unit types of increasing square footage are included, with every unit having access to a sizeable personal or shared outdoor space.
Physical Model The model was constructed out of chipboard and wood, representing the massing with facade articulation.
Ground Floor Plan The ground floor has all of the public program of the project as well as a large public plaza.
Second Floor Plan The second floor plan is all housing units, with mixed in terrace spaces for each tenant.
Streetfront Elevation The facade is a further reiteration of the 25’x25’ structural grid system within. This elevation rises up to meet a new raised public metro.
Room and Building Axonometrics The project is organized with a 25’x25’ structural grid unit that can create different housing modules. These can be stacked vertically to create private balconies.

Award Winning proposal for the 30 Crossing 2022 envision competition by Studio Main in collaboration with a structural engineer while interning with Cromwell in Little Rock, Arkansas Won the Public Choice Award for “establishing connections.” the project that “establishes vital connections for current and future contingencies.” The project is a proposal for a large urban park in downtown Little Rock. The concept of the proposal is to reinstitute the off ramps into a path system that connects the entire site to the surrounding context. By “activating” the edges of the site and path with vegetation, spaces are created within the larger area that can then be programmed. The most prominent space is located around a large pond near the river market, including a boardwalk around the water, an amphitheater built into the topography, and a splash park. Nearby spaces include a basketball court and playground on top of an abstracted motif of the spirals created by the arkansas river, and large geometric berms that continue the context of the clinton library park. On the opposite end of the site, the ramp is raised to create integrated seating for a sports area, and the space under the bridge creates a food truck “court” with a large feature “tree” with integrated seating and lighting. In the west, the site is less programmed with more open space. The park densifies heading east with a sculpture garden. Two portions of the site remain open for multipurpose activity and further development.
Site Analysis A series of isometric studies of context, zoning, transit/pedestrian routes, solar analysis, views.
04 SUMMER INTERNSHIP RENDERINGS - CROMWELL Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy Little Rock, Arkansas Summer, 2021 This rendering set was completed during a summer internship at Cromwell Architects Engineers in Little Rock, Arkansas. The purpose of the set was to be utilized for branding and signage for the school in both the advertisement of its construction and for fundraising. The renderings were achieved through a combination of Revit, Lumion, and Photoshop.

HOUSE HUNTING An Architectural Children’s Book Fayetteville, Arkansas Spring, 2022 The Picture Book is a story the two main characters explore a series of houses created by prominent architects but inhabited and modified by the children that live in them. The goal of the book is to expand the audience of architecture to one that is not often represented to in the field. Through the blending of different forms of architectural representation (perspective, plan, section, axonometric) and a fictitious adventure plot, the young reader is exposed to the architecture in a way that is both more enjoyable and suitable to their age. The drawings are achieved through a blending of digital collage and hand line drawings to achieve an aesthetic representative of the genre.
House Hunting Spreads A colorful picture book seeking to expand the audience of architecture to younger generations through a mixture of hand drawings and digital textures (photoshop).

ENVISION COMPETITION PUBLIC CHOICE AWARD | Establishing Connections Summer 2022 | StudioMAIN | Little Rock, AR | http://www.studio-main.org/envision This competition was an open competition for a park in Downtown Little Rock. The project had to consider connections to existing context, open public space for all diverse citizens of the city, and the creation of a landmark to be seen from the highway. The proposal won the public choice award for establishing connections, defined as “the project that establishes vital connections for current and future contingencies.”
NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP 2019-Present | University of Arkansas
NATIONAL DISCOVER DESIGN COMPETITION FINALIST 2018 | Chicago Architecture Center | https://discoverdesign.org/2018winners This competition was a national competition centered around a project proposal that changed every year. The project was for a community market in the South Side of Chicago. The proposals had to consider urban renewal, green architecture, access to public transportation, and fresh food and produce accessibility. Solutions to the project statement had to be developed from the empty lot in Chicago all the way to the design of the buildings, interior, and landscape.
