The PLUNGE Swimwear code of conduct contains the following:

Vendors will be employed on the basis of their ability to do the job, without regard or discrimination to their gender, age, religion, marital status, race, sexual orientation, disability, disease, nationality, pregnancy, trade union, or political affiliation.

Vendors will provide a work environment free of harassment or abuse that is beneficial to employee productivity and safety. Vendors must not engage in or tolerate sexual harassment, indecent or threatening gestures, abusive tone or language or undesired physical contact.

If a situation comes to attention regarding abuse, there will be swift action to prevent any further abuse or harassment.

Vendors shall not employ any children, also known as a person less than 15 years old. PLUNGE Swimwear’s vendors will be encouraged to create a workplace that is lawful for apprenticeship programs that meet our minimum age standard of 15 years old.

Vendors must be sure that the factories they work with source raw materials that are used in our products which are only from suppliers who comply with all applicable laws, including PLUNGE Swimwear’s Monitoring Standards, these Terms of Engagement for the Code of Conduct, and the current and relative laws regarding slavery and human trafficking.

PLUNGE Swimwear requires vendors to treat all workers fairly and with respect as well as the dignity they deserve. We only believe in workers receiving the utmost fair treatment when it comes to their working conditions, and our company will not tolerate any supplier who demonstrates a direct lack in fair treatment.

Within our vendors workplace, all work should be based on a voluntary basis, and not performed under threat of penalty, coercion or corporal punishment. No employee under our vendors should feel forced by any means to work for their employer.

Vendors must have current environmental licenses in place in order for them to achieve our environmental standards. They must comply with all environmental laws, regulations and standards applicable to their industry and as high of a standard as is possible for their country of industry.

PLUNGE Swimwear maintains a safe, clean, healthy, and productive environment for its workers and expects its vendors to mirror our work environment, as they are an extension of our brand. In order to prevent any harm that targets the employee health, safety, and well being, preventative measures, systems, protections and training must be put in place for our vendors.

PLUNGE Swimwear vendors must respect the right of workers to have freedom of association and collective bargaining, as well as allowing the right of workers to form unions. Vendors must allow union organizers free access to workers.

Vendors will set worker wages and overtime pay in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding pay for manufactureres. Employee compensation, meaning wages, overtime pay, benefits, and paid leave, must meet or exceed minimum legal requirements, industry standards, and collective bargaining agreements.

Working hours for those employed by PLUNGE Swimwear vendors should not exceed 40 hours per week. All overtime must be voluntary, mutually agree upon, and compensated at a premium rate.

Workers shall be given the minimum of 1 rest day in any given 7 day work period.

If any of our factories are found to not be adhering to our code of conduct and/or meeting our expected level of standards, immediate action will be taken to correct the problem and realign the factory with our code of conduct. We believe that by correcting the underlying issue, we are preventing further hardship for the workers.

If the supplier fails to demonstrate improvement after 6 months, we have the right to terminate the relationship with that supplier.

EMPLOYEE SURVEYS Surveys will be anonymous and will help to reflect on the conditions of the workers and will allow them to express any concerns without fear of repercussions. These surveys will be conducted by one of our reps and sent directly to the PLUNGE head office. This will prevent any misconduct by factory management.

SURPRISE AUDITS PLUNGE Swimwear will conduct internal surprise audits in attempt to experience and evaluate the day to day operations of the factory without any preparation.

SUPPLIER TRAINING PROGRAM This program outlines our expectations and provides specific guidelines on how to best address concerns in the following areas: compensation and benefits, employee documentation, and health & safety.

VENDOR SCORECARD All factories must be inspected within one year. A vendor scorecard will be used to rate vendors based on: ship rate, fit rate, response rate, quality lab dip submits, cleanliness of facilities, productivity, scrap amounts and energy consumption. Vendors will be rated A, B, C, D, or F based on inspections.

Additionally, Merchandising, Sourcing and Supply Chain teams are trained on our social responsibility program to enhance awareness and increase active engagement.

India is a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), however, the exposure to a lot of natural disasters doesn’t allow for a lot of sustainability. The labor is cheap at $2 USD/day, but the standards aren’t very ethical. India is still developing technologically and government policies are in action to improve technology in the apparel industry.

china Located in Asia, the industry in China is innovating and adopting current technology that will enhance environmental improvements and enhance sustainability. The cost of labor is a barely higher than average at $360 USD/month, and the workforce is more skilled. New technology is being developed, along with new purchasing mechanisms. The treatment of workers is set to a certain standard with employment contracts.

indonesia Located in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is exposed to some natural disasters and possesses a lack in governance when it comes to environmental concerns. However, there are constant initiatives to try to resolve this issue. Indonesia is rising in technological advancement, with innovative lighting and energy efficiency. The cost of labor is relatively reasonable at $260 USD/month, with a large moderately skilled workforce.

qingdao jifa group Located in Qingdao, China, Qingdao Jifa Group is a main manufacturer of apparel and textiles, footwear and accessories. They research, design, develop and produce underwear, sleepwear, swimwear, sportswear and casual wear. They have over 30 domestic and foreign subsidiary companies with about 15,000 workers.

bali swimtm Located in Bali, Indonesia, Bali Swim is a single manufacturer specializing in swimwear. They are always ethical and mostly sustainable. Their main fabric is Italian Carvico Vita (Econyl) which is 100% regenerated post consumer materials, such as fish nets. All of their fabrics are SPF and chlorine tested, super-soft, durable and 4-way abrasion resistant. The fabrics come in a wide range of colors in both matte and shiny colors that are updated twice a year.

India, China and Indonesia are all known for frequent manufacturing of swimwear using various fabrics that Plunge would consider producing with. Other qualifications are cheap and skilled labor, location and lead times.

Our suppliers also need to have sourcing guidelines with measures taken to ensure that the standards are always met. It is really important to manufacture with a supplier that meets all of these qualifications. Plunge doesn’t sacrifice ethics for cost.
