Adrienne Luce llegó al país el 6 de enero y de inmediato inició el análisis y la recolección de elementos naturales con las visitas diarias a bosques y montañas. La obra se ha ido materializando paulatinamente, en tres secciones inspiradas en la imagen de una barca como símbolo de traslado y comunicación. Elementos como troncos de matas de café, piedras, arenas volcánicas y cenizas que son los protagonistas que Luce ha ido integrado en su proyecto denominado “Nacimiento de la Luz”. La artista plasma su propuesta como un acercamiento escultórico entre la sombra y la luz, que va intercalando paralelamente con elementos tecnológicos como proyecciones de “film” quemado y efectos lumínicos. El paso de la luz por las formas y texturas resulta en la creación de sombras como parte de la búsqueda de una “SENSUALIDAD PALPABLE”. LA META ES CAPTAR Y TRANSFORMAR LA LUZ. La esencia de la obra es una exploración del enlace entre naturaleza y cultura en Costa Rica, interpretada y expresada por una artista con raices en una cultura y contexto ajenos a nuestra idiosincrasia. Esa NATURALEZA EXUBERANTE Y PALPABLE que se encuentra en los bosques y los campos abiertos de todo el territorio costarricense y que emana olor a hierba. Las inquietudes de la artista engloban la interdependencia entre el ser humano y el “hábitat”, un medio que envuelve y sustenta al ser vivo en la lucha por la vida. La artista analiza el continuo cambio cíclico del hábitat en el movimiento de las lluvias, las mareas, el cambio de estado de la materia y específicamente en el constante deshielo en Islandia, territorio que ha inspirado a la artista, originaria de la zona rural de Gaspésie ubicado al norte de Québec.
Adrienne Luce arrived to the country January 6th and immediately initiated the analysis and gathering of natural elements with daily visits to forests and mountains. The work slowly materialized in three sections inspired in the image of a ship as a symbol of communication and movement. Elements like trunks of the coffee bush,rocks, volcanic sand and ash are the protagonists that Luce incorporated into her project titled “Birth of Light”. The artist shapes her proposal with a sculptural approach lying in the space between darkness and light, inserted parallel to technological elements such as burnt “film” projections and luminous effects. The passing of light through shapes and textures results in the creation of shadows as part of a pursuit for “PALPABLE SENSUALITY”. THE GOAL IS TO GRASP AND TRANSFORM LIGHT. The essence of the work is the exploration of the correlation between nature and culture in Costa Rica, interpreted and expressed by an artist with roots in a culture and context foreign to our idiosyncrasy. This EXHUBERANT AND PALPABLE NATURE is found in the mountains, forests and open fields throughout the Costa Rican territory. Green hills which emanate an aroma of pastures and the strong presence of natural wildlife. The artist’s concern includes the interdependance between human being and “Habitat”, a medium that wraps and sustains living creatures in their struggle for survival. The artist analyzes the habitat’s continous cyclical change in the rhythm of the rain, tides, the transformation of matter and more specifically, in Iceland’s continous ice-melt; territory which has inspired the artist, a native of the city of Gaspésie located north of Quebec.
Adrienne Luce visualiza una conexión entre los suelos que nos soportan y sustentan en Costa Rica y los territorios nórdicos del Continente Americano de donde ella proviene. La artista plantea como conector estas grandes masas que componen las capas geológicas y que a la vez nos enlazan con el corazón de nuestro planeta TIERRA.
Adrienne Luce visualizes a link between the soil that supports and sustains us in Costa Rica and the northern territories of the American continent from where Luce is from. The artist suggests this huge mass made up of geological layers as the connector that puts us in touch with the heart of our planet EARTH.
