The 2018 Knight yearbook (McCallum HS) earned an Award of Distinguished Merit. It is the first critical feedback the Knight staff has received about the 2018 yearbook. The award is the highest award possible and included Distinguished Merit ratings in nine of the 13 categories assessed. The staff also earned Star Potential ratings in four categories: caption writing, student life coverage, people coverage and sports coverage. Because the staff earned Star Potential ratings in at least three categories, ILPC evaluators will consider it for a 2018-2019 Star Award. It is the third consecutive year that the Knight staff earned an Award of Distinguished Merit. The staff last won a Star Award in 2016-2017 when it captured a Bronze Star for the 2016 Knight.
