There has been a decline in referee numbers over recent years for a number of reasons, one of which is referee abuse. This season there are a number of new and particularly young referees and touch judges. The Group XI General Committee (representatives from all clubs) have asked that the fans keep the future of Rugby League in mind at our games. Support your teams by all means but give these new officials a chance
Code Of Conduct
The Dubbo Macquarie Raiders Rugby League Football Club in conjunction with the NSW Police will remove anyone behaving in an unacceptable manner from the ground.
SPECTATOR / PARENT
• Condemn all violent or illegal acts, whether they are by players, coaches, officials, parents, or spectators.
• Respect the referee’s decisions – do NOT complain or argue about calls or decisions during or after a game.
• At all times follow the directions of the Ground Manager and/or match day officials.
• At all times remain outside the restricted playing area.
• At all times only use positive and encouraging vocal support.
• Parents MUST keep children outside the restricted area whilst the game is in progress.
Coaches
• Actively discourage foul play and/or unsportsmanlike behaviour by players.
• Teach players that an honest effort and competing to the best of their ability is as important as victory.
• As a coach, conduct yourself at all times in a manner, and in all situations that shows leadership, respect for the game of Rugby League and respect for all those involved in the game – the players, officials, the fans, the parents, the referee’s and the media.
Athletes
• Be a good sport. Respect all good play whether from your team or the opposition. Shake hands with and thank the opposition players at the completion of the game – win lose or draw.
• Participate for your own benefit and enjoyment.
• Always respect the referee’s decision.
• Never become involved in acts of foul play.
• Honour the spirit of the competition, live up to the highest ideals of ethics and sportsmanship; respect the traditions of the game
• Never engage in disrespectful conduct of any sort including profanity, sledging, obscene gestures, offensive remarks, taunting or other actions that are demeaning to other players, officials, referee’s or supporters.
