Welcome to Boarding

Thank you for considering our School as a boarding option for your family Choosing where your child will live, learn, and grow is a significant decision, and one that deserves careful thought

As Head of Boarding, I understand that while boarding opens doors to opportunity, it can also come with an unspoken cost: Time Time with your children that you cannot get back.

At Macquarie, our approach is guided by a simple belief: Boarding within Reach. We believe families should not have to choose between an excellent boarding experience and regular, meaningful connection with their children

Dubbo’s location makes this possible Widely known as the Hub of the West, Dubbo functions as a key service, education, and transport centre for central and western New South Wales. Families already travel here for what matters, which means boarding at Macquarie does not place students out of reach in the way many traditional boarding schools do.

In practice this means families remain present. I love seeing parents watching er, attending school events, or simply gh town These moments matter They onships without compromising the ce boarding provides of both worlds. A strong, supportive paired with family ained rather than lost.

hin Reach truly means.

Why Choose Macquarie Boarding?

Boarding Within Reach

Dubbo’s central location allows families to remain closely connected through regular visits, weekend sport, school events, and shared family time throughout the term

Space to Thrive Accomodation Designed for Independence

Set on 40 acres, the campus provides students with space to learn, play, and unwind in a safe and supportive environment. Students can enjoy the benefits of boarding without being removed from a country lifestyle and setting.

Students transition from modern boarding accommodation with a 2:1 bathroom ratio into senior share-house style living, helping prepare them for life beyond school

A Smaller Boarding Community

With only 56 boarders, every student is genuinely known, supported, and cared for. Smaller numbers allow staff to build meaningful relationships with students and families, ensuring personalised academic, pastoral, and wellbeing support.

Opportunities Outside of Boarding

Boarders are fully supported to participate in co-curricular activities, with transport provided to sport, agriculture, music, tutoring, and other opportunities.

A Balanced Transition to Adulthood

Boarding combines structure, care, and wellbeing support with opportunities for part-time work, leadership, and growing independence, preparing students for university, work, and life after school.
