From Humble Beginnings to an International Brand
Mack’s Lure has a rich history rooted in the entrepreneurial spirit of our founder, Vern McPherson. Our journey began in 1969 in Riggins, Idaho, when Vern and his wife, Edna, introduced the iconic Wedding Ring Spinner from their family grocery store. This innovative lure quickly gained popularity among local fishermen.
As demand soared, Vern traveled extensively throughout the Northwest, handcrafting lures with his family and stocking eager stores. Guided by their faith and a love of fishing, the McPhersons believed quality products, paired with exceptional service, leads to satisfied customers. The founders’ commitment to quality and neighborly service remains central to our business today.
In 2005, we relocated our corporate offices to Wenatchee, Washington, in order to focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. We rigorously field-test our products to ensure they are proven fish-catchers before we bring them to market.
In 2006, after the McPhersons retired, Bob Schmidt, a longtime team member, acquired Mack’s Lure, transforming it into an internationally recognized brand with over 1,000 products.
In 2016, we expanded the business by acquiring Shasta Tackle, known for its kokanee lures.
Today, Mack’s Lure thrives as a family-oriented workplace united by a passion for fishing. Our mission is to deliver quality products and exceptional service, helping you to catch more fish and enjoy your fishing adventures.

SHUTTLE HAWK™
The Shuttle Hawk is a downrigger stacking system. Attached to your downrigger cable, it will take your release and lure to a desired depth until released. Then, returns to the surface to be sent down again, making it unnecessary to raise or lower your downrigger.
The Ultra Release Downrigger Clip is a simple, ultralight release with a tension screw adjustment. It has proven itself as not only a great downrigger release but is ideal for stacking multiple lines on one downrigger. As featured on the Shuttle Hawk Downrigger System.
Adjust the tension screw until the line snaps lightly in and out of the ultra release. Attach the release to your Shuttle Hawk and/or your downrigger weight. Make a 2” loop with your thumb and fore finger, roll line between them, making several twists, place the top of the loop in the release slot and pull back until the line snaps in.
STACK YOUR RODS USING THE SHUTTLE HAWK
Use the Shuttle Hawk to fish additional rods on a single downrigger, place stop on the cable at least 10’ above the first ultra release. Then attach line on the S.H. (as shown above). Slide the S.H. onto the cable, loosen the reel, drag, then lower S.H. into the water, keeping tension on its way down. When it reaches the stop, reset your drag. After releasing, the S.H will return to the surface, Making it unnecessary to raise your downrigger.
Adjust tension screws so line can lightly snap in and out.
Make a loop with your thumb and finger, then roll line in between them, as shown.
Place the top of the loop in the release slot. Then pull back until the line snaps in.
