THOUSANDS of new jobs will be created with the proposed Urannah Dam,

60km east of Collinsville, in the Eungella hinterland, which is half-way between Bowen and Mackay. This North Queensland’s federally

funded $1.4 billion dam project, which is twice the size of Sydney Harbour, is on hold until the Palaszczuk grants environmental approval.

Urannah Dam’s proponent and Managing Director of Bowen River Utilities John Cotter said his company had already spent $22 million and five-years prepar-
