Marathon mountain challenge HUNDREDS of mountain bike riders from throughout the region took to the roads and paths of Eungella National Park last weekend as part of the annual Mackay Mountain Marathon event. THAT is the question as many as 700 people could be asking tonight. And those 700 people are not just who you think they might be.
The face of homelessness is changing in the Mackay region and the scariest thing is that most people are just two pay slips away from finding themselves in the same situation. St Vincent de Paul Society Housing NQ Manager Raeleen Etelaaho said on
every given night in Mackay region, there were between 650 and 700 people - including whole families - who were either staying in charity-paid motel accommodation or they were sleeping rough. CONTINUED, P3
